A prenatal and postpartum coach is someone who coaches expectant mothers through the journey of having a healthy and physiologically sound birth. After birth, she guides parents through all the changes, expected or unexpected, to ease into a smooth transition to parenthood.

A coach's primary responsibility is to motivate the student or client to achieve their potential in any area or areas that need improvement. They also develop specific skill sets and goals important to the job or type of recreation. A coach can be a private tutor, a counselor, or a life-skills coordinator.
