Sealing is performed by heating the open end of the ampoule with an electrical resistance heater, ele- vating the heated portion of the ampoule to the sealing position, and sealing the end with mechanically operated, electrically heated jaws.
How do they seal ampoule in industry?
They are hermetically sealed by melting the thin top with an open flame, and usually opened by snapping off the neck. The space above the chemical may be filled with an inert gas before sealing. The walls of glass ampoules are usually sufficiently strong to be brought into a glovebox without any difficulty.
How ampoules are manufactured?
In the first stage of ampoule production, the carousels are filled with glass tubes. Most of these glass tubes are made at the Gerresheimer plants in Pisa and Vineland. In the shaping process, the ampoule is shaped from the base to the tip. Then it is separated from the glass tube.
