Overkill means you bought something you'll never ever need. For example 64GB of RAM. You'll never need this in a gaming computer, ever. Or buying a RTX 2080ti graphics card when you only have a 1080p 60Hz monitor.

Is 2500 dollars too much for a gaming PC?
There's no real upper limit. You can build an adequate PC for maybe $8-900, a competent PC for maybe $1000-1200 and the sky's the limit from there. Yes, $2,500 is too much. I don't like the idea of spending more than $1,000 USD.Feb 14, 2013
