Yes It has been discontinued. Seiko now makes a 100m Seiko 5 Sports watch that looks identical to the SK007 except it isn't ISO rated. If you want a proper ISO rated Seiko automatic diver you need to buy a Prospex.
Will the Seiko SKX go up in value?
A skx007 is a fine watch. Seiko makes a lot of 007s and the by no means are limited. Investment wise it's not going to gain value but it could last a very long time.

As well, the movement couldn't be wound by hand, and one could not stop its second hand to set the time to the second accurate.
