The Rickenbacker bass produces a very aggressive sound with a lot of treble, especially when used with a pick. The low end suffers a little because of this, which is why the Ric has a hard time fitting into most popular music. With the correct amp EQ settings a Ric can still be a very versatile bass, though.

Rickenbacker's are very good guitars, very nicely built, with good sounds. They do feel and play somewhat differently than other guitars though. The necks are skinny, and the fretboards highly polished, and they have a slick, skinny feel, that, if you've been playing Gibsons, will feel really strange at first.

What is the Rickenbacker sound?
Fender FSR Standard Jazz Bass(Sapphire Blue finish!!) It has a lot of crackle and Treble. Personally, i greatly dislike it and prefer a deep rich tone, but ive played the rick, and it's not for me, and i think you should head to your local store and try it for yourself.
