How much money is a decent laptop?
The $800 to $1,000 range is where you'll find the best laptop value. This amount of money can't buy you everything, but it can buy you a laptop that's excellent in important areas. You only have to spend more if you want a gaming laptop. In that case, we recommend budgeting at least $1,500.20 Feb 2020
Is it worth upgrading an 8 year old laptop?

Is 8GB of RAM enough for a laptop?
8GB RAM. Most people with a moderate budget ($500 or more) for a laptop should aim for at least 8GB RAM. We generally recommend this amount of memory for most people doing office work and other basic tasks, as well as gamers—especially if you're looking at a model with soldered RAM and can't upgrade it later.2 Sept 2021
