The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) offers confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters. They provide a point of contact for patients, their families and their carers. You can find PALS officers in your local hospital.
What happens when you complain to PALS?
The PALS Team will liaise on your behalf with the service you or your relative received the care and treatment from who will investigate the concern. The service will thoroughly investigate every aspect of your formal complaint and you will receive a written response within 25 working days.
Can PALS Help?
PALS provides help in many ways. For example, it can: help you with health-related questions. help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.
Are PALS independent?
PALS services are not always independent and some are of poor quality. In some areas, PALS provide both complaint handling for hospitals as well as provide advocacy services for patients.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service, or PALS, is an English National Health Service body created to provide advice and support to NHS patients and their relatives and carers. The scheme was announced in the NHS Plan 2000.
Is it worth complaining about the NHS?
