What's your experience with bulletin or amendment?
There was a lively discussion on the CSI-Connects members-only community page with 40 responses and counting. When he asked this question.
The write up by sheet is what I have always understood.A bidder can go to that sheet to see what has changed. It is incumbent upon us to coordinate the other disciplines and make sure they are doing the same with their sheets. There is a bulletin to be written. If I am removing a door with electric strikes, I would describe it as one line item the removal of door, frame, and electrified hardware and then reissue all sheets. Is this how others are doing it?We are talking about the same thing in our office.
"Andrew, that is the way I structure Addenda and Bulletins, and I am continually having to explain why there is and there needs to be a difference," said Eric Murrell.I am not surprised if you are getting pushback.
An addendum is a modification to the construction documents before a contract is awarded. It is written in the format of revised drawings, revised specifications, or language referencing chapter and verse and the exact change to the documents.I don't know if a bulletin is defined in any of the General Conditions or General Requirements. What is the purpose of the standard instruments?Supplemental Instructions, RFI, Proposal Request, Construction Change Directive, etc.Do not?
If you determine that a purpose is necessary, you will need to define it in your front end.Since you are defining it, you can use it as you please.
Heather Salisbury said, "In my 25 years of practice an addendum is a modification prior to contract award and a bulletin is after award."As far as the list of changes are concerned, they look the same.Maybe that is where you see the difference because my work is not with any public entities.Although I have never issued a bulletin, I was told many years ago that the term 'bulletin' was rarely used.
