Are A Tribe Called Red Native?
You get the unique sound of “powwow step” from A Tribe Called Red, an indigenous Canadian DJ trio. Their distinct blending of First Nations music and urban contemporary youth culture is itself an act of protest.
How did A Tribe Called Red start?
A Tribe Called Red came to be in 2008 when Ehren “Bear Witness” Thomas, who is Cayuga from the Six Nations Reserve, met Ian Campeau (“DJ NDN”), an Ojibway from the Nipissing First Nations, while working at a nightclub in Ottawa.
Is the Halluci Nation indigenous?
A Tribe Called Red have changed their name to the Halluci Nation. The Indigenous electronic producers say the name is inspired by the works of Indigenous poet and activist John Trudell, who died in 2015. He was also the inspiration for their 2016 concept album "We Are the Halluci Nation."
