How are metal birds made?
The birds are made from premium weathering steel. Once installed, there's not a lot to do. Your bird is designed and made to rust and form a protective coating that seals and slows the rate of corrosion giving your bird a long life and a beautiful patina that changes with the seasons.
Do Metalbirds harm trees?
Our original birds are a decade old and the trees are showing no long-term damage whatsoever. The spike on our birds is driven firmly in with little room to allow infection. Over time the tree will seal off around where the bird has been installed to protect itself from disease.
Are Metalbirds supposed to rust?
Will it go rusty? A. Yes Metalbirds are made from Corten® which is designed to patina. This gives them long term protection against the elements, and a beautiful patina that shifts with the season.
