Which is better for a baby with reflux?

I was wondering if anyone had started their baby on the medication for reflux and how long it took for their symptoms to improve.Grant threw his first bottle up.He only keeps formula down if I make it thick with cereals.I don't like having to do that.If he had a milk allergy after his first bottle, I was hoping he would be ok.I'm not sure what the time frame will be before I see improvement.

Hi, Janvieve!Grant has an allergy to milk. They did a huge panel of allergy tests for Mason when he was diagnosed, and I know milk was one of the tests. You get the results in less than a week with a single-vial blood draw.It might be a good idea since a lot of babies don't like the taste.

If your LO has a milk allergy, it's likely that Nutramigen isn't made to help or cure it.

Some babies have trouble shutting the valve in their stomachs to keep food down, unless of course the allergy is making it worse, I'm not sure what type of formula it is that will help.

It took me about 3 days to see a full improvement in my LO's milk allergy after I eliminated all dairy from my diet.

We were referred to a baby gastroenterologist by my ped.Sorry.Maybe you should look into that.It took us 3 trips to the doctor to get him some medicine. My next appointment was with the doctor.

I am so sorry that you are having a hard time with this.We went through 5 different formulas before we found one that worked.

When his relfux problems started getting really bad, my ped had me switch to Nutramigen. When I took him to a GI Specialist, she told me that it was hard to tell whether or not his reflux was made worse by the two drugs we started within 72 hours of each other. He was put on Prevacid after the Zantac stopped working.Don't want to mess up a good thing. He probably isn't screaming in pain because he's not allergic to milk. The Ped GI Specialist was very helpful and explained everything to us.If your baby has an allergy to milk, soy will make it worse. She explained that the chances of a baby getting an allergy to the cereals are very low.It is more likely that you will have acid damage. It won't hurt if he adds more to his formula. If your baby has an allergy to milk, it is important to not give him any milk products until he is at least one year old. There are some ingredients in gerber products and cookies.Giving your LO even a small amount of milk can cause him to have an allergy for the rest of his life.I learned a lot when I went to this doctor.Let me know if you want more information.

We tried nutramigen, but it didn't help Dd.I haven't tried nutramigen because he is on a lactose free formula, but Ds's is more severe. He was given horrible gas and congestedness by regular formula. No more gas or congestedness.

Thank you ladies. If he doesn't gain enough weight next week, my ped will draw some labs to figure out what's going on.She mentioned the possibility of an upper GI exam.I will ask about the test. It's possible because we are allergic.I was hoping that when I started the pill he wouldn't vomit or have stomach pains, because it would be the magic bullet. It's so frustrating.

It takes about 2 1/2 to 3 days to get the formula that they have been on out of their system.

I have a 15 month old child.zantac was taken until about 3 months old.He was the one we tried to switch her from nutramigen to.I tried to switch her to Thanksgiving because most babies are better by that time, but she wasn't on the zantac anymore. She screamed for 3 days until we got the new formula out of her system. It was a nightmare! She was 8 months old when we tried again in February. She was 11 months old when I tried to switch her to milk. The expensive nutramigen is still being bought. It works in 3 days or less.
