Which of the following is the replacement for the Moen 1200 vs 1225 Faucet Cartridges?

Do you need to replace your shower valve but don't know the difference between the replacements?

When it comes to simplicity, Moen is the best faucet company. They have worked very hard to make high-quality products and keep their replacement parts streamlined.

Ask any plumbing professional how easy it is to find replacement parts and repair shower valves, and they will attest to it.

The updated version of the original 1200 single handle is called the 1225.The original cartridge was invented decades ago by Al Moen. The Moen 1225 has a clear plastic shell.

The shower valve handle is the biggest difference between the two.

If you pull the handle out, you can turn on the shower valves by adjusting the temperature by turning it to the left or right.

You could say that the Moen shower valves have volume control. It's a nice feature that you can pull the handle as far out as you need.

Pressure balancing is an important feature of a shower valve as it reduces the risk of you getting scalded with hot water if someone flushes the toilet while you are showering. If the pressure balancing of the Posi-Temp cartridge senses a reduction in the flow of cold water, it will close down the hot water side, preventing you from getting scalded.

You can turn on the shower valves by rotating the handle. The 1222 cartridge does not have volume control.

You can open the flow of water by rotating the handle counter-clockwise.You can't control how much water comes out of the shower valve.

The 1222 Posi Temp is not interchangeable with the 1225 or 1200.

There aren't any parts that are interchangeable between the 1222 and 1225 parts. The shower plates and handles don't fit.

It's important that you know which shower valve you have before buying any replacement parts. The best way to determine if you have the Moen 1222 vs 1225 shower valve is to remove your shower trim.

If you want volume control but you already have a Moen 1222 Posi Temp valve, you can't just replace the cartridge and get it.

You will need to replace your existing shower valve with a new one that has a pressure balancing valve that takes the Moen 1225 cartridge.

They are replacements for the Posi Temp Moen shower valve. The only differences are their packaging and model number.

The 1222B model number stands for Bulk. That's it!The part is sold to contractors in case packs. You'll usually find the 1222 in your hardware stores.

The parts that come off the same production line at their factory in North Carolina are the 1222B parts. The packaging is the same.Don't ask yourself what the difference is between the two.

The same answer applies to the difference between the two.The replacements are the same as the original ones. The bulk packs are where the Moen 1225B is sold.

It is important to know when it is time to change the cartridge after you know the difference between the two.

Think of the shower valve as your car's brake pads.It isn't a static piece that will last forever. The impact it has on the performance of your valve will get older with time.

It's time to replace your Cartridges if you are experiencing any of the symptoms. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to remove the shower valve.

It's not uncommon for Moen to get stuck inside of the shower valve, which may require tools like the Moen cartridge puller.
