Lokmanya Tilak became associated with Agarkar while he was in college.They were both fired because they wanted to serve their motherland.The English newspaper Maratha and the Marathi newspaper Kesari were started by Agarkar and Tilak.The Deccan Education Society started the Fergusson College in 1885.The Principal of the college, Agarkar, held the office until his death.He believed that child marriages and untouchability should be thrown out before political freedom is achieved.Lokmanya Tilak gave the highest priority to attaining freedom.
