Why is it called the Man Booker Prize?
It was modeled after the Prix Goncourt, a similar award for French fiction. The Booker Prize was named after its original sponsor, the Booker McConnell Company. From 2002 to 2019, the name of the award was changed to the Man Booker Prize after a new sponsor, the Man Group.
