Why does my breaker keep tripping with nothing plugged in?
It can be difficult to keep your cool if your circuit breaker keeps tripping.
It is very unlikely that your circuit breaker will keep tripping with nothing plugged in.
Unless your building or home has had the electricity completely cut off, there is always some amount of load on your breaker.
There are three possibilities that could be behind the tripping of your circuit breaker.
Make sure that nothing could be tripping the breaker that you haven't considered, as you've probably already checked for this a million times.
You might have a device in the garage that you forget about.Maybe there is a device in another room that is not on the same breaker.
To find out which outlets are connected to which breakers, use an electronic circuit breaker finder.
If you don't want to make that kind of investment, just do a quick check and consider unplugging some devices in the surrounding area just to see if they were actually connected to the breaker in question.
The next suspect is a damaged input wire that is causing current leak. The problem could be dangerous if it wasn't for the circuit breaker tripping.
You will need an electrician to chase down the source of the leak in order to fix it.This isn't the type of project most people are capable of doing on a weekend.
It is nearly impossible for a circuit breaker to trip without devices being plugged in if the breaker is malfunctioning.
If you checked for devices that could be responsible, you now have a better understanding of why your circuit breaker keeps tripping.
Unless you have experience working with current, fixing the issue is best left to an electrician. You will not be paying them for nothing if you fix them first. It shouldn't take them too long to find and fix the source of tripping.
