Why does my dryer stop working when I start to dry clothes?
When I turn on the GE Electric Dryer, it will run for a few minutes and then shut off. What would be causing this?It happens when we try different heat settings.Everything else works, plugged in and vent clean.
I just got my new washer and dryer and put my clothes in it as soon as I got it.After a few seconds, the dryer turned off.It wouldn't work no matter what the settings were.I am at the laundry mat drying my clothes. Can anyone tell me how mad I am?
There is a 12 month warranty on a 2 year old GE stacked washer/dryer.The dryer stops after 5 minutes. Will run and dry until cools, but won't start again until then. It's fine empty or very small load.It stops when the sensor is dry. There were 8 failed service calls. The repairman said it was the exhaust.Had it been changed- it didn't help. The machine has a problem if exhaust is disconnected. Two people replaced a timer. The guy replaced the blower motor.Bloomington, IN.Everyone who has come has given up.I am tired of people throwing trip charges at me to not fix my machine. When asked if we had a problem, GE said it was out of warranty and would replace it for $800.Not in the budget.Suggestions are welcome.
We took the vent off and tried it again, but it wouldn't start or stop for a few seconds.I'm going to blow it out with an air compressor.
It sounds like a faulty thermistor. You want to try to pull your dryer away from the wall, take off the exhaust vent hose, and run a load with the heated air just going into the room.If it doesn't get wet, the issue is in your vent tubing. It's important to make sure your motor is free of lint so it doesn't get overheated and shut down early.
There are two parts in question. If you post some images of your dryen with the back cover removed, it will help me find the right tech sheet for you. This guide can be used to add images to an existing question.
