Why is my alarm malfunctioning?

Everything is going great until you start hearing sounds from the keypad.This can be frustrating, and we are here to help.

A power outage or a low backup battery can be caused by your ADT keypad beeping.Pressing off or # will most likely stop the beeping.If you have a backup battery, you will want to replace it.

The most common cause of continuous beeping is a low battery.If there is a power outage at your home, you will not be able to connect via battery for a long time.

Replacing the backup batteries is the best solution.If that sound lasts long enough, it can drive someone up a wall.We will show you how to stop the battery from beeping for each system type.

If you have a main keypad and devices connected to it in certain areas of your home, it will chirp to let you know that the battery is low.

The first thing you need to do is figure out which battery is low so you can replace it.

To do this, you will need to look at the screen at your keyboard.Depending on your system, you will see a notification that is similar to BAT or LOW BATT.If you don't see a zone listed, it's the main keypad with a low battery.The zone that you see listed is the one with the lowest battery.

If you can't make a quick trip to the store, the next thing you'll want to do is stop the beeping!

There are different ways of stopping the beeping.Some systems need a different command to stop the sound.

You can check your system by logging into MyADT.The Alarm System tab is on the left of the page.When you see an image of your system, its name will be listed above it.

The batteries of most home security keypads are held together.They will be connected to a device.It is safe to replace the battery.

The type of battery you need will be determined by the numbers on the battery.It will be in your manual as well.Write down the battery you need and put your cover back on, leaving the low battery in the system for now.Even though it is low on power, it will still cover you.

If you want to find out which batteries are required for your specific model, you can use a resource from ADT.Most batteries can be purchased online.

You are probably still trying to figure out why your keypad is continuously beeping if your battery is good.You have checked the battery status and no message has come up about low batteries.

If you don't have an active plan with ADT, it might still try to call out to them once a day.It will alert you if it can't connect.

If this is the case for you, you may have to run to the system every day and press the buttons to cancel it out.

If you have an unmonitored system, you will have to sign up for active monitoring or disabling the alarm system.Adding a monitored system will give you added perks and help you with your repairs.

Constant beeping can occur if someone has tampered with your system.It could be as simple as the cover falling off or being taken off by a child.If this is the case, you will get a faster, continuous beeping.The cover can be put back on to fix this.Once the cover is back on, the beeping will stop.

You may face connection troubles if you hear a fast beeping and the cover isn't off.The display will show that it is having trouble connecting.If this happens to you, you can stop the beeping by entering your security code.
