Woman Found in Los Angeles Lot, 1 ith Apparent victim of Hillside Strangler.
Many of the victims' bodies were discovered in the hills surrounding greater Los Angeles, so the nickname for the serial killers was the Hillside Strangler.
It was thought that only one person was responsible for the killings. The police knew from the positions of the bodies that there were two people working together.Ten women and girls ranging in age from 12 to 28 years old were kidnapped, raped, tortured, and murdered by Kenneth and Angelo's cousins. It was [1][2].
Between October and November 1977 three sex workers were murdered and their bodies were dumped on hillsides northeast of Los Angeles. After the deaths of five young women who were not sex workers, but girls who had been abducting from middle-class neighborhoods, the media attention and subsequent "Hillside Strangler" moniker came to prominence.[4]
The murders stopped after two more deaths in December and February. After the arrest of Bianchi in January 1979 for the murder of two more young women in Washington, an extensive investigation proved futile.
The most expensive trial in the history of the California legal system happened at that time, with Bianchi and Buono being found guilty of these crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment.
In January 1976, Kenneth Bianchi left Rochester, New York and moved to Los Angeles, California to live with his cousin, Angelo Buono Jr.Buono came up with the idea of getting some girls to work for them as prostitutes. Two teenage runaways met two men and were forced to prostitution themselves.David Wood arranged for Spears to escape from the city after he was appalled at her situation.[5]
Encouraged by Spears' escape, the man ran away from the two places. They had to find more teenage girls.Impersonating police officers, they found another woman and put her in the previous girl's bedroom. They bought a list of men who frequented prostitutes from a woman named Deborah Noble. The trick list was delivered by Noble and Washington.[5]
Washington mentioned that she worked on a stretch of Sunset Boulevard. When they found out that Deborah Noble had lied to them, they decided to take out their anger on Washington.Detective Frank Salerno of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department was called to the scene after her naked body was found on a hillside. The corpse was cleaned before being dumped and there were faint marks around the neck, wrists, and ankles where a rope had been used. The victim had been raped.[3]
On November 1, 1977, police were called to Alta Terrace Drive in La Crescenta, a neighborhood 12 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, where the body of a teenage girl was found naked, face up on a parkway in a middle-class residential area. The homeowner covered her with a tarp to keep the children from seeing her on their way to school.Police found marks on her neck, wrists, and ankles that indicated she had been killed. She was killed elsewhere and the body was dumped.[6]
Detective Salerno found a small piece of fluff on her eyelid and saved it for the forensic experts. She had been raped and sodomized.Judith Lynn Miller, a former student of Hollywood High School and occasional sex worker, was eventually identified as the girl who was described as being "small and thin, weighing about 90 pounds and appearing to be about 16 years old".
On October 31, 1977, Miller was last seen talking to a man in a two-tone sedan on Sunset Blvd. The stranglers handcuffed her, took her to a shop where she was murdered, and told her they were undercover police officers.
On November 6, 1977, the nude body of a woman was found near the Chevy Chase Country Club.Like Miller, she had been brutally raped but not sodomized. The woman was identified as 21-year-old waitress Elissa Teresa "Lissa" Kastin, who was last seen leaving the restaurant where she worked the night before her body was discovered.[8]
Unlike the two previous victims, who were prostitutes, drug users and runaways, Kastin was a professional dancer for The L.A. Knockers. The stranglers followed Kastin after she was seen driving home from work, pulled her over on the street she lived on, and told her that they were detectives. They took her in for questioning and handcuffed her.[8]
The daughter of an actor who played a serial killer in a film was approached by two men with the intent of abducting and killing her. However, when they found a picture of her sitting on her father's lap among her identification, they let her go without incident, fearing the murder of a celebrity child may attract a high amount of police and press attention.Lorre didn't realize who the men were until they were arrested, and she remembered that two men had approached her in the past.10
The girls boarded the bus in front of The Eagle Rock Plaza on Colorado Boulevard and headed home. They were last seen getting off the bus on York Boulevard and approaching a two-tone sedan with two men inside.Their bodies were found by a nine-year-old boy who had been treasure hunting on a hillside near Dodger Stadium. The girls' bodies were already decomposing. They had been killed and raped.[8]
On November 20, 1977, hikers found the naked body of a young woman, who was a student at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. When Grogan found her, he found marks on her wrists, ankles, and neck, as well as blood oozing from her rectum. There were puncture marks on her arm, unlike the first three victims who had needle tracks.Weckler had been injected with Windex.[8]
On November 23, 1977, the badly decomposing body of Evelyn Jane King, an aspiring actress who had gone missing on November 9, was found near the off-ramp of the Golden State freeway. The severity of her decomposition made it impossible to determine if she had been raped or tortured. The "Hillside Strangler" task force was made up of 30 officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, the Sheriff's Department and the Glendale police department.[2]
The body of a business student was found in the hills around Los Angeles's Mount Washington on November 29, 1977.She had marks on her body. There were burn marks on her hands.Lauren's parents expected her to come home before midnight, but when they found her car parked across the street with the door ajar, her father questioned the neighbors. There are no comments at this time.
The woman who lived in the house where Lauren's car was parked saw her abduction. The woman stated that she saw two men, one tall and young and the other older and shorter. She said that she heard the man cry out, "You won't get away with this!"During her abduction. There are no comments at this time.
The naked and tortured body of a 17-year-old sex worker was found on a deserted lot near Los Angeles City Hall on December 14, 1977.Martin joined a call girl agency because she didn't want to expose herself to the Strangler on the streets. She was the call girl who was dispatched after the killers placed a call to her agency from a Hollywood Public Library pay phone. The apartment she was dispatched to was empty and had been broken into.[15]
On February 17, 1978, the body of the final Hillside Strangler victim was discovered in Los Angeles, when a helicopter pilot spotted an abandoned orange car on the Angeles Crest Highway. The nude body of the car's owner, a student and part-time waitress, was found in the trunk. She had been raped and tortured. She was killed and her body was put in the trunk of her car and pushed off the cliff.[15]
