You can create a virtual internet connection on your computer.
If you have a Windows 10 Anniversary Update, you can turn your laptop into a wireless hotspot with a few clicks.There are built-in tools that allow macOS computers to share their hardwired internet with one another.If you're using Windows 7 or 8, you can use a free program called Virtual Router to create a wireless hotspot.
Step 1: You should check your version of Windows.
The ability to turn a Windows 10 computer into a wireless hotspot was introduced in the Anniversary Update.Press Win if you want to start.Press enter if you want to type winver.The "Version" entry should be checked.It should be "1600 or later".
Step 2: If you are using version 1607, you should install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
The update is free, but may take up to an hour to install.Click the "Get the Anniversary Update now" button when you visit the Windows 10 anniversary update page.Follow the instructions to download and install the update.
Step 3: Click or tap to start.
You can access the settings from the start menu after the anniversary update is installed.If you open the Search menu instead of the settings menu, it will lead to the wrong menu.The Start button is in the lower- left corner of the screen.
Step 4: Click the "Settings" option if you want to tap it.
The Start menu has this on it.The gear icon may be the button.
Step 5: Click or tap "Network & Internet."
You will be able to see your network settings.
Step 6: Click or tap the option.
You can find it in the left menu.If you have the Anniversary Update installed on your laptop, you can see this.
Step 7: You can change your hotspot settings with a tap or click.
The default name and password can be changed.The password will be required to connect, as the name will appear on your other devices in the "Available Networks" menu.If you are in a public area, you should have a strong password.
Step 8: You can choose which connection you want to share.
To find out if your laptop is connected to the internet via wi-fi, select "Wi-Fi."Select "Ethernet" from the menu if it's connected to the network via the internet.
Step 9: Go to the "Mobile hotspot" on your device.
This will allow up to eight other devices to connect to your laptop and access the internet.The files on your laptop will not be accessible by the devices.
Step 10: You can connect your devices to the internet.
Any device that supports wi-fi can connect to the hotspot once it is active.You will connect to it the same way you would any other wireless network.The name will be the one you entered before.From the "Mobile hotspot" menu, you can see how many devices are connected to your hotspot.
Step 11: Plug your Mac computer into the network.
If you want to turn your Mac into a wireless hotspot, you need to connect it to the network via Ethernet.You can't create a wireless network if you're using your wireless device.If your Mac doesn't have an ethernet port, you'll need to use ausb port.
Step 12: Click on the menu.
This can be found in the upper- left corner of the screen.
Step 13: Click on "System Preferences".
Step 14: Click on the Sharing option.
This is the end of the third section.Click the "Show All" button at the top of the window if System Preferences doesn't open to the main screen.There are 12 small dots on this button.
Step 15: The option to "Internet Sharing" is highlighted.
The "Internet Sharing" option can be found on the left side of the window.Don't check the box yet, just highlight the "Internet Sharing" option.
Step 16: You can share your connection from this menu.
There are different network connections on your Mac.
Step 17: Click on "Ethernet" in the menu.
This will allow you to share your internet connection with other people.Depending on your Mac model, "Ethernet" may have a different name.If you don't have an Ethernet cable connected to your computer, "Ethernet" will not appear.You can't use a wireless connection.
Step 18: Check the "To computer using" list for "Wi-fi".
This will allow other devices to connect to your hotspot.
Step 19: Click on the button to find out more.
You can change your settings with this.
Step 20: Set your password and network name.
When other devices attempt to connect, this information will be required.
Step 21: There is a box next to "Internet Sharing".
This will allow other devices to connect to your Mac's wireless hotspot.
Step 22: Your other devices can be connected.
You can use your other devices to connect to your wireless hotspot once it's active.Your new network will appear in the list of available networks on nearby devices, and the password you created will grant access to the internet.The files on your computer won't be accessible by the other devices.
Step 23: You can visit virtualrouter.codeplex.com in a browser.
Virtual Router is an open-source program that will turn your laptop's wireless network card into a wireless hotspot.You don't need a separate network connection to share it.It's a bad idea to use a program called Virtual Router Plus.This program can compromise your system.Only the virtualrouter.codeplex.com can be downloaded.Virtual Router is not compatible with Windows 10.
Step 24: Click the button to download.
You will be able to download the Virtual Router installer.The download should take a few minutes.
Step 25: You can double-click the installation.
Run the program after you have downloaded it.In your browser's Downloads section, you can find it in your Downloads folder.
Step 26: You have to follow the instructions to install the Virtual Router.
The settings can be left at their defaults.
Step 27: Go to the Start button.
The Virtual Router can be launched from the Start menu.
Step 28: Click "Virtual Router Manager"
After installing Virtual Router, you'll find this program in your Start menu.
Step 29: There is a network name.
The network name can be changed.The name will appear on other devices in the list of available networks.
Step 30: A password is needed to create a password.
This will help protect your network.Users on other devices need to enter a password in order to connect to the network.
Step 31: Click the "Shared Connection" menu.
You will be able to see your available network connections.
Step 32: The network connection you choose should be active.
The "Shared Connection" menu will show you which connection your laptop is receiving internet from.This will make sure that connected devices can use your internet connection.
Step 33: Click "start a virtual network."
This will allow other devices to connect to your new wireless hotspot.
Step 34: Use your new network to connect other devices.
The list of available networks will show your new hotspot on other wireless-enabled devices.You can enter the password by selecting the network.This will allow the device to connect to the internet on your computer.Connected devices can't see your computer's files.
Step 35: If you have problems with the Virtual Router, try to fix them.
Since Virtual Router isn't an official program, there are several things that may be causing it to not work for you.Make sure you have the latest drivers for your laptop.Detailed instructions can be found on Find and Update Drivers.Download and install the hotfix from Microsoft if you get the "group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation" error.Make sure you don't use Windows 10.Virtual Router only works on Windows 7 and 8.There is no support for Windows 7 starter.
