Step 1: When your tank is less than half full, look for a gas station.
You can see how much gas is left on your fuel gauge.You don't have to worry about running out of fuel if you start looking for a gas station when your tank is half full.Pick the best option from a few stations around you.Gas Buddy, Waze, and the Canadian Automobile Association are just a few of the gas tracking apps.
Step 2: Turn off your vehicle's engine when parked next to a pump.
Go to the gas station and look for an open pump.Turn off your vehicle's engine when you park so your gas tank is facing the pump.If you don't know which side your gas tank is on, look at the gas gauge on the dashboard.The side of the car where the gas tank is located has a triangle-shaped arrow pointing to it.There is no fire or safety hazard when you turn off your engine.If you flip out your kickstand after you dismount from your motorcycle, you can easily refill your bike.
Step 3: Don't smoke and leave your phone in the vehicle.
There isn't a fire hazard if you smoke near a pump.Cell phones could be a potential source of gas fumes, so keep them out of sight while you pump.Give the pump your full attention because it only takes a few minutes to fill up.When you finish, you can always check your phone.
Step 4: If you want to pay at the pump, insert your credit ordebit card.
If you want to pay for gas at the pump with your credit or debit card, take it out and put it in the appropriate slot.The payment process can be completed by following the instructions on the screen.You cannot prepay a set amount at the pump.Once your gas tank is full, you need to stop pumping yourself or wait until the pump stops on its own.
Step 5: Pay with cash at the gas station.
If you want to pay with cash or with a specific amount of gas, head to the gas station.You can tell the clerk how much gas you want by talking to them.You can pay for it with a credit card, debit card or cash.If you pay for your gas inside, you have to prepayment a specific amount.
Step 6: Open the gas cap on your car.

Step 9: When you are done, replace the nozzle and close the gas cap.
Remove the nozzle from the gas tank and put it back on the pump.Close the cover until it clicks shut, then screw your gas cap back on.You only need to close the gas cover if your gas cap doesn't work.If you used a credit or debit card to pay at the pump, the receipt will be printed.
