There are faux fur blankets in many stores.If you want to buy a faux fur blanket for yourself or for a gift, make sure to check out your local fabric store.If you have a sewing machine, some pins, and some faux fur fabric, you can make a fake fur blanket.It can be done in an hour.
Step 1: Take your materials and tools with you.
The process of making a faux fur blanket is simple, but requires some special tools and materials.A sewing machine is required to make a faux fur blanket.
Step 2: Put the faux fur and fleece away.
The fur should be laid down on a dry surface.Lay the fleece over the faux fur.The edges of both fabrics need to be lined up.Line up as many edges as you can if the fabric pieces are different.If you want to use faux fur on both sides of the blanket, you can.The extra faux fur fabric will cost more.If you use faux fur for both sides, make sure the fur sides are facing each other.flannel, cotton, microfiber, and jersey are some of the fabrics you could use in place of fleece.Make sure to place the right side so that it is facing towards the faux fur fabric.
Step 3: To make the pieces even, trim the edges.
If you have to trim the fleece or faux fur, use your scissors.It's important that the two pieces are the same size.There is a slight difference in the size of the two fabrics.They are hidden on the inside of the blanket.If you need to cut the faux fur fabric, it is best to use an exacto knife on the back side of the fabric.It will be easier to avoid stray hairs when cutting through the fur.
Step 4: The edges should be pin together.
You will need pins to keep the edges lined up.Pin all the way around the edges of the blanket, except for a section that is 16” wide.To hold the two pieces of fabric together, be sure to use lots of pins.Place a pin on the edges.
Step 5: They sewed along the edges.
A straight stitch is 12 inch away from the edge of the blanket.Remove the pins and put them in a pin cushion or magnetic pin holder.Do not stretch the fabric as you sew.Try to keep it flat.At a steady pace.Try not to get fur in the seam.If necessary, brush it away from the edges.
Step 6: Stop sewing and put the blanket down.
There is a 16” unpinned area of the fabric.The gap through which you can pull the blanket through is here.When you reach this area, stop sewing.Pull the fabric away from the sewing machine by lifting the needle and presser foot.The faux fur should be on the outside of the blanket.Pull the fabric through the gap until it is completely inverted.The corners may need to be pushed out a bit to make them look normal.Use your fingers or a small object to push the fabric out of the blanket.
Step 7: Attach the final edge with a pin.
You just need to sew up the gap to complete the blanket.To hide the raw edges, fold the edges under, and then pin them to hold them in place.From the edge, sew over the area.As you go, remove the pins.As you remove the pins, be sure to place them in a pin cushion or magnetic pin holder.
Step 8: Take care of any loose strings.
When you're done working on your blanket, be sure to trim the hanging threads away.Don't cut the fabric if you can get loose threads close to the edge of the blanket.Your blanket is ready to use after you trim away the loose ends.
