Reading is an important part of learning.Quiet places to retreat to and read a good book can be found in reading nooks. They are more than just for reading. It's a great place to draw, write, or listen to music.Setting aside a peaceful spot in your room is the perfect way to do that.
Step 1: A corner, alcove, or a box is a good spot for your small space.
You might need to rearrange your bedroom furniture. There are good potential nooks if you open them up.Pick a quiet spot. You don't want a lot of loud noises, such as a radio or TV, to bother you.Reading nooks can be found in the corner of a room or near a window. If necessary, you could use lamps in the nooks.
Step 2: What kind of seating do you want to use?
Are you looking for a chair that will swallow you up?Are you looking for a chair that you can sit in?Do you prefer a bunch of pillows on the floor or a beanbag?Do you want a bench that is both a coffee table and ottoman? How much space do you have for seating?A luxurious feel can be created if you have a lot of room.A hanging chair or floor pillows will work well if you don't have a lot of space.
Step 3: Light up your space.
There are moments of inspiration that may come to you as you read. There is a balance between lighting needs and comfort.Nothing beats glorious daylight for daytime reading.Pull the curtains if it gets too bright to block the sunlight from hitting your reading material.A simple lamp can be used for reading at night.A desk or floor lamp is an option. You could hang a globe light above the reading area.
Step 4: It should be a place of solace.
The comfort of a reading room is the most important thing. It must be something that appeals to you and encourages you to keep going.Think of things that make you happy.Do not use anything that you don't like or that makes you feel bad.You should surround yourself with the things that make you the most comfortable.Use patterns and colors that make you feel safe.Adding a rug to the space will anchor it visually. There is a comfortable place to rest your feet.
Step 5: If possible, keep the reading Nook out of other parts of the room.
It can be as simple as putting a low dresser to one wall to give the impression of division, or as complicated as hanging curtains around the nooks to create a canopy. The division will give you a sense of control over your space. It is a good idea to keep a snack nearby that is both sweet and salty.Don't introduce phone or electronics to your quiet space if you unplugged from everything. You can surround yourself with sweet aromas.Purchase a season-themed candle and place it in your bedroom. To make the space even more tranquil, hang a tapestry on the wall.
Step 6: Take the embroidery hoop apart to start crafting the canopy.
The perfect size for an embroidery hoop is about 23 inches and can be found at any local store that sells crafts.Put the hardware pieces in a baggie to make sure they don't get lost while you put the canopy together.
Step 7: The curtain fabric should be put on the hoop.
You will need 3 packages of white curtains. The top of your curtains should face the hoop on its inside. There are 6 curtain panels around the hoop.
Step 8: The hoop needs to be secured back together.
Attach the 2 ends of the hoop by putting the hardware pieces in the baggie.Make sure the curtains are spread evenly around the hoop by sliding them over it.
Step 9: The canopy will hang from the ribbons.
The off-white ribbon is 1 2 inches long and 12 feet wide. The hoop can hang a good distance away from the ceiling if you cut 3 pieces of ribbon. If you want the canopy to hang lower from the ceiling, cut the ribbon pieces a little longer. The curtains should be spread around the hoop. The ribbons should be looped onto the hoop every couple of panels so that the curtains are even on each side.At the top, tie the ribbons together.
Step 10: The canopy should be hung from the hook in the ceiling.
Most home improvement stores have hooks. The canopy curtains should be hung over the hook in the ceiling. To create a door, spread 2 panels.Adding pillows or stuffed animals to your canopy will give it a personality. These reading nooks can be used in children rooms and nurseries as a place to read to your child while they are in your lap.
Step 11: The closet needs to be perfect to use.
If your room is too small, a closet nook is a great alternative. The location and size of your closet should be optional.
Step 12: The closet should be ready for the nooks.
Take the things out of the closet, wash the walls, and vacuum the floors.Use lag bolts to secure the seat to the studs to make a base.
Step 13: It's a good idea to make some texture in your reading Nook.
Paneling three-quarters of the way up the wall is accomplished by installing 1 in 4 in pine wood boards. The pine wood pieces on the right side of the closet can be used as floating shelves.Attach the wood to the closet with glue or nails. You can hang items on the wall. You can frame pages from vintage books or quotes to make a mini gallery wall.
Step 14: A light source is included.
The overhead light in the closet would work well.Hang a couple sconces or add a reading lamp. It's possible to put up string lights or Christmas lights.
Step 15: You can choose a color theme.
You can paint the remaining quarter above the paneled section.Give the wood a polished look by staining it.The shelves, borders, and bench should be painted white.
Step 16: Personal touches can make a space special.
Place a cushion, a warm throw, and throw pillows on the bench. You should put some books up to line the shelves and some in wicker baskets for decoration.Use different toys to decorate the children's nooks.stuffed animals, toy cars, flashlight, etc.To add to the reading theme, create themes centered around favorite novels. If you are a big fan of Harry Potter, you should include a cloak or wand.
