A tutu skirt is a great gift for children. It's easy to make and no sewing is required.
Step 1: Take a waist measurement.
With their back straight, have the tutu-wearer stand still.Measure from their waist to the part of their leg where the tutu skirt ends.tutus fall between 11 and 12 in.There are 28 cm and 23 in.There is 58 cm from the waist.
Step 2: The elastic needs to be cut.
There is a piece of elastic that is about 4 in.The waist measurement is 10 cm shorter.Attach the ends of the elastic together. To make sure the elastic won't come apart, use a generous amount of glue. You should have an elastic circle.
Step 3: The person needs to try on the elastic.
It needs to be tight around the waist. If necessary, adjust it.
Step 4: You can choose the color.
It can be found in fabric stores or arts and crafts stores. You can find 6” wide tulle in your choice of color.tutus are a solid color, but different colors of tulle can be used together.
Step 5: Buy more than you need.
If there is a mistake, it is better to have extra tulle on hand.Purchase at least 10 yards for a tutu skirt.Purchase at least 15 yards for an adult.
Step 6: Cut the fabric.
The length of the skirt depends on how tall the person is and how long you want it to be.You should take the finished length of the tutu and divide it by 2.Add 1.5 in.To get the strip length, use 3.8 cm.Each strip should be 3 in.It is 8.6 cm wide. The finished tutu will be 20 in.The tulle should be cut into strips of 41.5 in.It was 105 cm long and 3 in.It is 8.6 cm wide.It is a good idea to make the tutu 3” to 4” longer than you think it needs to be, as once it starts puffing out, it will seem a lot shorter. You can adjust the skirt to be shorter, but you can't make it longer once it's been cut.
Step 7: You can use a piece of cardboard to cut it.
Wrap the tulle around the cardboard and use your scissors to cut it on both ends. The pre-cut tulle is 6' wide, which is the right width for the skirt. If you use pre-cut tulle, you just have to cut each strip to the correct length as you unroll it.
Step 8: The edges of the pieces need to be cut at an angle.
tutus that are flat across the bottom can look dull.To speed up the process, cut several pieces at the same time. You want to add texture to the tutu, so don't worry about keeping the edges tidy.
Step 9: Attach the elastic band to the tulle with glue.
This can be accomplished by folding the strips over the elastic band.Glue the two layers together just below the elastic with a glue stick or glue gun.Continue this process until the circle is complete.
Step 10: The elastic should be tied to the tulle.
If you don't have a glue stick or glue gun, you can knot the piece at a time onto the elastic.Take a piece and fold it in half.Wrap the looped end around the elastic and pull the other ends through the loop.Pull the tulle tight and secure it around the elastic. The elastic band is covered in tulle when the ties are repeated. As the elastic stretches, make sure you push the knots together so there are no gaps. You can mix and match the colors of the elastic to create a unique look.
Step 11: The fit of the skirt should be checked.
It is easy to move or dance in a tutu if the person tries it on.
Step 12: The tutu should have some finishing touches.
Attach ribbon to the elastic. If you want to add buttons, flowers, or other adornments, simply place them on the tutu or elastic.
