Bird seed ornaments are a fun way to give the birds of your neighborhood a treat. There are many different ways to make a bird seed ornament.Gelatin and peanut butter are the easiest and most kid-safe ways to use, but coconut oil and suet ornaments require you to work with hot liquids.
Step 1: Water can be heated in the microwave using a glass measuring cup.
The water should be microwaved for 30 seconds. The water should be hot but not boiling.
Step 2: Unflavored gelatin should be put into the water.
The water must be long enough for the gelatin to be dissolved.
Step 3: Corn syrup can be put into the water.
If you want the corn syrup to be dissolved, stir it long enough.
Step 4: Bird seed and flour are mixed in a separate bowl.
The two should be combined.
Step 5: Slowly pour the solution into the bird seed and flour.
Use a large spoon to mix the ingredients.
Step 6: Do not spray the inside of the cookie cutter.
Larger cookie cutter shapes are easier to work with than smaller ones and may attract more birds.
Step 7: Place the cookie cutter on the paper.
Nonstick cooking foil can also be used.
Step 8: You can use cooking spray on your fingers.
You will need to work directly with the sticky bird seed mixture, and cooking spray will reduce the amount of seed that gets stuck to your skin.
Step 9: The cookie cutter has bird seed mixture in it.
Press the seed mix into the cookie cutter with your hands.
Step 10: The bird seed should be put into the mold with the help of a wooden spoon or chopstick.
After putting it into the seed, remove it to make a hole. You can tie the ornament onto the tree with the hole. The closer the hole is to the center, the longer the ornament will last.
Step 11: The cookie cutter should be removed from the bird seed.
If you have to, gently hold the seed in place with your fingers.
Step 12: You should repeat the process with the rest of your bird seed mixture.
You may need to spray the cookie cutter with more spray.
Step 13: The bird seed ornaments need to be dried.
Allow them to sit in a cool spot.
Step 14: You can string a separate piece of yarn or thick string through the hole.
Leave enough empty space for the loop to slip over the tree branch.
Step 15: There are two layers of aluminum foil.
Standard aluminum foil can also work.
Step 16: Nonstick cooking spray is used to spray a metal cookie cutter.
The interior sides should be well-coated.
Step 17: The cookie cutter should be on top of the aluminum foil.
Wrap the foil around the sides of the cookie cutter to form a mold.
Step 18: Coconut oil can be used in a sauce pot.
The coconut oil does not bubble or boil.
Step 19: Add nuts and bird seed to the oil.
The seeds and nuts should be evenly distributed in the oil.
Step 20: Allow the pot to cool a bit after being removed from the stove.
The oil should be cool enough to not cause burns.
Step 21: A piece of thick twine should be placed into the cookie cutter.
The twine should be moved to the top of the cookie cutter. The twine should hang over the edge of the cookie cutter.
Step 22: The cookie cutter has oil and seed mixture in it.
The seed mixture should be allowed to reach the top of the mold.
Step 23: At room temperature, allow the seed mixture to solidify.
Don't chill or freeze yet.
Step 24: The seed should be put in the freezer.
Allow it to stay in the freezer for an hour.
Step 25: The cookie cutter has an ornament on it.
Use the twine to hang it outside.
Step 26: Cut a loaf of bread into thick slices.
If you want the bread to be easier to work with, allow it to get slightly old but don't let the mold grow on it.The slices of bread should be thick. If the bread is not old, bake it in an oven set at 300 degrees Fahrenheit (148.9 degrees Celsius) for 10 minutes.
Step 27: The bread should be cut into a ring shape.
Tie thread or yarn with a small hole in the center.
Step 28: Place chopped nuts and birdseed in a small dish.
The nuts and seed should be mixed together.
Step 29: Spread peanut butter on the side of the bread ring.
Smooth peanut butter can be used.
Step 30: Place the bread ring into the seed.
Drop the bread on the peanut butter side. The peanut butter will be well-coated in seed and nuts if the ring is pressed into the seed.
Step 31: Place the bread ring on the foil.
The seed side of the ring should be facing up.
Step 32: You can repeat the dipping procedure as often as you please.
You can use as many hard rings of bread as you want.
Step 33: The rings should be in the refrigerator.
Allow them to sleep.
Step 34: There is a hole in the center of each ring.
Tie the yarn to form a loop and slip it over the tree branch outside.
Step 35: Cut slices from a loaf of bread.
The sub-section on peanut butter ornaments has instructions for cutting slices.
Step 36: The bread slices have rings on them.
There are large holes in the center. The holes will be filled with a mixture.

Once the liquid suet has melted down, remove any chunks of fat or gristle that are floating in it.
Step 38: There is peanut butter in the melted suet.

It's best to use nonstick foil.
Step 42: Cut squares from onion bags.
The squares should be large enough to wrap around your bread rings.Place the squares on the foil.
Step 43: The onion bag squares should be placed on top of the bread ring.
The bread ring should be placed on top of the square.
Step 44: The cooled bird seed mixture should be placed in the center of the bread ring.
Use your fingers to pack the mixture into the hole. The mix needs to be warmed up on the stove over low heat until it becomes soft enough to mold.
Step 45: Pull the onion bag around the bread ring.
The square needs to be tied into one or two knots.
Step 46: The filling and tying procedures should be repeated.
Continue until you run out of food.
Step 47: The ornaments should be chilled in the refrigerator.
The ornaments have to be chilled and hardened for at least eight hours.
Step 48: Tie a piece of yarn around the onion bag net.
Attach the other end to the tree branch.
