You can make your own hormones rooting powder or tonic.
Stronger root systems can be formed by rooting hormones. You can make your own rooting powders and tonics with things you have around your home.Aspirin or willow branches will provide growth hormones so roots develop faster, while honey or aloe will help preventbacteria and fungi from forming.
Step 1: Reduce the heat by boiling 2 c of water.
Put a pot with tap water on the stove. The water should come to a rolling boil. The heat should be turned to low to let the water boil.If you are concerned about foreign substances in your tap water, you can use a water purification device.
Step 2: Let the solution cool down after you add 2 US tbsp of honey.
You can get standard honey from a grocery store.Place the honey in the pot of water and stir it with a spoon. When the honey is completely dissolved in the water, turn off the heat and let the pot cool completely. As well as promoting healthy root growth, honey has antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal properties.
Step 3: The honey solution should be soaked in for 1-2 hours before planting.
The bottom of the pot should be submerged so that the rooting hormone is completely cooled. If you want the cuttings to absorb the solution, soak them for at least 2 hours. Before planting honey in the ground, you can dip the end of your cutting in honey for an additional layer of protection.
Step 4: Push the gel out of the leaf with a spoon.
Use a sharp knife to cut the leaf off the plant. The leaf should be on a cutting board in front of you.Press the back of a spoon on the point of the leaf and apply firm pressure as you guide the spoon toward the cut end.Your cutting board will be pushed out of the cut end by the gel from inside the leaf. The cutting is protected by the gel.If it doesn't have any other added ingredients, you can use it from stores.
Step 5: Put the gel in a cup and it will have a watery consistency.
Use your spoon to break apart the larger pieces of the gel after you scoop it into a small cup.To loosen the consistency of the gel, use the back of your spoon. You can use the gel for your hormones once it flows like water. If you can't make your gel consistency right, add water to it.
Step 6: Before you plant it, make sure the bottom of your cutting is covered with the gel.
When you are ready to plant, dip the cut ends into the gel.If you spin the cutting around you will get an even coating of the gel on the stem. The cut end has a gel on it.
Step 7: It is possible to crush.
A standard aspirin tablet doesn't have any coating around it.Attach the top of the pill grinder to the aspirin tablets. To break the pill apart, apply firm pressure to the top.The pill will form a fine powder after being crushed. You can buy pills from your pharmacy. The active ingredient in Aspirin is salicylic acid, which helps prevent the formation ofbacteria on your cutting so it can grow roots.
Step 8: The ground aspirin should be mixed with distilled water.
The aspirin powder can be poured into a jar or glass with 1 cup of distilled water.Use a spoon to stir the powder into the water.Let the solution sit for about an hour before stirring and checking on it again, if some of the chunks don't dissolution right away.If you put an uncrushed aspirin pill in the water, it will take longer for it to break down. You can use tap water, but aspirin may not work as well.
Step 9: Before you plant your cuttings, you should dip them in the aspirin solution.
At least 1 inch of their bottom ends should be submerged. If you want the cuttings to remain healthy after you plant them, let them absorb the aspirin solution for about 2 hours.
Step 10: There are 2 cups of young branches in the willow tree.
New growths are forming on the tree so collect the branches in the spring.Green shoots and branches that are skinnier than a pencil can be used for rooting tonic. To cut the willow branches at a 45 degree angle, use a pair or pruning shears or a sharp utility knife.willow can be used for your rooting hormone.Don't use dead branches since they will not have any rooting hormones.
Step 11: Take the branches and cut them into pieces.
To cut the branches to a smaller size, use a sharp knife or a pair of shears.Make sure the branches are about 1 inch long so they can easily be submerged. The natural growth hormones in willows will help your cutting quickly form roots once you plant it.If you used bark pieces instead of branches, cut them the same size.
Step 12: Let the willow pieces soak in the boiling water for 24 hours.
You can boil water over high heat on your stove. When the water comes to a rolling boil, pour in the willow branches so they can soak.Leave the branches inside the pot for 24 hours. The hormones will mix with the water during that time.If you don't want to make as much rooting hormone, keep a ratio of 2 cups of willow pieces to 1 gallon of water.
Step 13: The liquid from the pot should be put into glass containers.
Transfer the solution into separate containers after it cools. It's important that the willow branches don't get into the containers since the liquid already absorbed their nutrition. After you fill the containers with the solution, store them in your fridge for up to 2 months.Once you have used the willow branches in your solution, you can throw them away.
Step 14: The willow solution should be soaked for at least 2 hours before planting.
Cut ends should be dipped in willow water solution and left to soak for at least 2 hours before planting.Put your plants in the soil after they have soaked it.During the first month of growth, you can use the willow solution to help promote healthy roots and foliage.
