Super Mario 64 is a classic Nintendo 64 game that was a huge hit, and snubbed a remake for the Nintendo DS.Super Mario 64 DS has fun, addictive levels and a total of 150 power stars to collect, making it a great game to play.
Step 1: Learn how to play the game.
The direction that the character is moving is controlled by the D-pad.A is for sticking out the other person's tongue.B is going to jump.Press B three times in a row.The camera is in and out.The D-pad can be used to change the direction you're looking in.Y is for a good looking person. The camera on the back of the DS can be turned on by the left tab button. The right tab button on the back of the DS is used for crouching.Pressing B results in a backward somersault.Pressing in mid-air will cause a ground-pound.
Step 2: There are three different ways to control the game.
Standard mode has the same controls, but there are two other modes, known as touch mode and dual-hand mode.In touch mode, you can control your character's movements by moving one of your fingers or stylus across the screen. The other movements are the same as in standard mode.In dual-hand mode, you can control your character's movements by using the stylus and buttons if you are right handed or left handed. The touch screen is used for all camera adjustments, and the buttons are not used at all.If you don't like either of the two methods, then stick with standard mode. You can switch between control modes by pressing the Select button on your Nintendo DS.
Step 3: There are four different characters in the game.
Most of the time, you have to unlocked at some point in the game. When you first start the game, Yoshi is the character that you start off with.He is the highest jumper of the four and has the ability to swallow enemies, as well as breath fire when he obtains a power flower, which can burn ice blocks and kill enemies. He cannot grab enemies or objects, so keep that in mind. The only character who can use the Wing Cap and wall-jump in the game is Mario. If you want to skip a point in a level, his Power Flower ability can be helpful.Mario is the most balanced of the four. There are two characters that you can get in the game. His power flower ability causes him to turn invisible, which can be helpful for certain stars in the game.He is the fastest character in the game and can run on water.Wario is the strongest of the four characters, being the only one who can break black brick boxes and other heavy objects, but is also the slowest and has the lowest jump. You will need him because the black bricks will hold certain stars.Although he can't swim, Wario sinks to the bottom of the water in order to obtain certain stars.
Step 4: When you first start playing your game, recognize what happens.
You'll see a star on the screen when you turn on your game for the first time. The star will travel around the screen before opening the title screen if you've started the game before. When the star is moving around the screen, you should see the title screen if you touch it with your stylus or finger.
Step 5: You can start a new save file.
If you have a new copy of the game, all three save files will be empty. If you want to clear an old save file, select "File Options" at the bottom of the files screen, and then choose which file you would like to remove.Select "File Options" at the bottom of the files screen if you want to copy a save file to another file.Pick the file you want to copy the first file to.
Step 6: Allow the beginning of the movie to play.
When Yoshi wakes up from his nap on the ground, you're free to start the game.
Step 7: The key to the castle is in the hand of the rabbit.
When you start the game, you'll walk to the castle, where Lakitu will talk to you.He will tell you to find the key to the castle. There will be a yellow rabbit in the courtyard.Press A to stick your tongue out when you're close to him.He will give you the key to the castle and allow you to enter.
Step 8: There is a castle called Peach's Castle.
There will be a brief message, but nothing will happen. If you want to know more about the game, you can speak to the Toad near the door.
Step 9: You can enter the room that leads to Bob-Omb Battlefield.
The door to the left has a star on it, but no number. To get to the level-select screen, you have to jump inside the painting.
Step 10: Get to the first level of Bob-Omb Battlefield.
You can reach the top of the mountain in this level. There will be a battle with King Bob-Omb.To beat him, you need to eat the Bob-Ombs that he throws at you, and then spit them out at him.He will cough up your first star when you do this three times.
Step 11: Now that you have your first star, it's a good time to think about what to do.
If you want to move on to Whomp's Fortress, you have to obtain the second star of Bob-Omb Battlefield. The Princess's Secret Slide is a secret star level.
Step 12: Continue getting stars.
More levels should open up as you get more stars, and you will have more freedom to do what you want.If you don't have a certain character, you will not be able to get that particular star.
Step 13: When you can, beat the first boss battle.
To enter the level, you must have Mario unlocked and be playing as him, as well as 8 stars. The giant door with a star on it is up the staircase in the middle of the castle and can be reached if you meet the requirements.Walk towards the painting, which looks like Princess Peach, once you've opened the door. You fall into the level when a trap door opens beneath you as you get closer. To get to the green warp pipe at the end of the level, you have to travel all the way through it.After a brief message from him, you will enter the battle. If you want to beat him, grab him by pressing the A button, then swing him around by drawing circles on the touch screen using the stylus or your fingers. You will have won the battle if you throw him into one of the spikes. You'll leave the level if you take the key that he turns into.
Step 14: He gave you a key and you have to know which door it opens.
This key will open the door to the basement, which is through the brown door in the castle, with nothing on it, not even a star, and down the stairs that are in there. This will allow you to try new levels.
Step 15: In the basement, play the next levels.
It is possible to play as many of the different themes as you would like. You can tackle the second boss battle once you have achieved 30 stars.
Step 16: Beat the second boss.
You need 30 stars to open this door, which is the same as the door to the first battle. You should notice the door when you first walk into the basement. You must also be playing as Mario. You should see a blue portal when the door opens.Dire Dire Docks is the first course you have to take in order to get the second boss battle.Once you travel through a tunnel that can be found once you go underwater, you can find a sub with a Bowser logo on it at the other side of the tunnel.Climb on the sub and get the star once you've found it.Once you have it, you should be able to see that the portal moved back and there was a hole in the level. When you get to a green funnel looking thing, jump in it and enter the battle with Bowser. The procedure to beat him is the same, except that he has added two new tricks. He will give you another key if you beat him.
Step 17: Do you know what the key opens?
At the top of the first castle staircase, you may have seen a key that opens that door. There will be another room with stairs. There are more levels to play through if you walk up the stairs.
Step 18: You need to play the new levels until you reach 50 stars.
You will be able to open another big star door if you reach 50 stars. It is up a staircase. You don't need Mario to open this door.
Step 19: There are a few new levels available.
You don't need to paint any of the last levels in the game. When you jump into the clock that you should see when you first enter the room, you can find the other two levels, Rainbow Ride and a secret star.Their flutter jump ability makes it easier to get to them.
Step 20: It takes at least 80 stars to get a star.
New levels will provide you with stars, so you may need to go back to previous levels. You will be able to open the door to the final boss battle if you have 80 stars, which will make you one step closer to saving the princess.
Step 21: If you beat the final boss battle, you will win.
You have to have 80 stars to play as Mario.Walk up to the door and watch the video for a third time. There is a painting and a hole in front of the stairs. You'll be in the final battle if you go into the hole.Even though it is very difficult, navigate it the best you can.Continue until you reach the green warp pipe. You'll be in the final boss battle of the game if you enter it.If you want to start the battle, scroll through the message again. The procedure is almost the same, but he has more tricks, such as jumping and producing electric shock waves. You have to hit him with spikes three times instead of the usual one.He will break the arena into a star after the second time. You'll have a wing cap if you beat him and collect the final star. You have defeated Super Mario 64 DS.
Step 22: The final scene and credits.
While they're going, celebrate because you've officially beaten the game.
Step 23: You have to catch rabbits to get the keys.
There is a sidequest type adventure that you can have. Each character has a different way to catch rabbits. Each catches seven for a total of 28 and the color variations and locations vary from character to character. The rabbits of Mario, Wario, and Luigi are all different colors. There are some white, glowing rabbits that can appear when playing as any character in place of the regular rabbits, and they're needed to get a secret star in the character selection area.
Step 24: The Castle's secret stars can be found.
If you want to get all 150 stars, there are hidden stars around the castle.Red coin stars are used to determine the levels that can be unlocked by Mario, Luigi, and Wario. There is a switch star in the Mario Level that needs to be obtained by grabbing a power flower as Mario, as well as a star that requires you to punch the boss in Wario in order to get it.All the boss battles have red coin stars. There are two secret stars in Peach's Secret Slide, which can be found in the character select room. You can get one star for simply beating the slide and hitting the yellow box at the end, and one for beating it in under 21 seconds, if you jump into the window. There are two stars in the foyer of the switch tower.Step into the painting of the sun, hit X, and use the D-pad to look up.You'll get a star if you use the switch at the center of the level. You can get another star by collecting red coins. The minigame room has a painting on the left-hand wall. You need to collect all the silver stars in this level to get a star of your own.You can get a star in the courtyard if you kill all the Boos and collect their red coins. You can see the red brick blocks from the side of the courtyard.Get the five silver stars by breaking them and entering the level. These can be difficult to get. There are three stars in the castle. There are three toads, one of which is near the pool that leads to Hazy Maze Cave, the other two are in the vicinity of the painting for Tall Tall Mountain, and the last one is a tadpole that is close to the clock for the Tick Tock Clock. They'll only give stars when you get 20, 40, and 60.If you are located in the castle's moat, you need to lower the water level.Find the black brick, punch it, and play as Wario. The brick was in the hole. One of the stars can be found by going through a series of platforming, while the other is an 8 red coin star. There should be an alcove in the room for Jolly Roger bay. This will take you to the 8 red coin level. To get a star, swim through the level and collect all the red coins.Make sure you always collect coins because you won't have an opportunity to come up for air.You can collect a power flower in the room with the mirrors where you can get Wario. You can get a star by going to the other side of the mirror. There are two stars to be obtained in the alcove opposite of the Rainbow Ride level. You can get 8 red coins by playing as Mario and wearing a wing cap.You can play as Wario and get a star by shooting out a cannon in the level. There is an 8 red coin star, which can only be obtained by becoming Wario and grabbing a power flower, in Behind the Waterfall, a level that can be accessed through Hazy Maze Cave.
Step 25: Use the map to your advantage.
There is a map at the bottom of the screen. The map will show you where the stars are located. If you talk to a pink Bob-Omb, it will show you where 8 red coins are.
Step 26: You should know what stars look like.
It's important to know how much progress you've made. You can see a shadow on the map at the bottom of your screen if you have already collected a star.
