ATMs can be used to access your bank account from anywhere.ATMs are incredibly straightforward and easy to use.
Step 1: Basic safety procedures should be practiced.
People using ATMs will occasionally be targets of crimes, so you want to be safe.If you are alone, make sure the area is well lit.If other people show up, be on your guard.Stand up so that your screen and key presses are not visible. You will want to look at the machine.Card skimmers are becoming more common and, while there is no universal signal that an ATM is compromised, if something seems off about how the card slot looks then you'll just want to find another machine to use.If possible, only use ATMs during the day.
Step 2: Go to the ATM and insert your card.
There are two types of mobile banking cards. The amount you have in your bank account is linked to the amount on your debit card.Fees and interest rates make credit cards expensive to use.To make sure the chip side is facing inward, insert your card into the slot. The machine should be labeled with the special fee when it is in a tourist area. There may be additional fees associated with traveling out of the country.
Step 3: You can use ATMs and debit cards at the same bank.
If you have a Chase card, look for a local branch or an ATM.If the ATM is for a bank other than the one you have an account with, you will be charged an additional fee for withdrawing money. If your card and ATM don't match, some services may not be available. When the branch is closed, you will still be able to access the ATM by using your bank's card on the card reader, giving you added security.
Step 4: Pick your language.
Depending on where you live, most ATMs will offer transactions in at least three different languages.Depending on the machine, you can change the language after you insert your card.
Step 5: When prompted, enter your PIN.
"PIN" is a four- to six-digit password people use to access their bank account.Make sure to shield the pad with your hand when you enter your PIN number, as nearby onlookers can see it.Criminals can place cameras on the ATM itself in order to steal your card information.Depending on the financial institution associated with your ATM card, the PIN may be four or six digits long.
Step 6: You can withdraw money.
Even though the associated bank may incur fees, you can withdraw money at almost any ATM.Fast cash allows you to quickly withdraw a set amount as labeled on the machine. This can be either $40, $50, or $60.You can specify how much you want to withdraw by typing in the amount.Be aware of your limits. Most ATMs and banks have limits on how much you can withdraw in a day.Depending on your bank and account type, limits between $300 and $1000 are common.
Step 7: You can deposit money.
If you use an ATM with your bank, you can deposit money as well. You should be presented with a choice of accounts. Some of the funds may be available immediately. There are two ways to deposit money.Sometimes a deposit envelope is required for this to be fed into the machine. If you use a modern ATM, you should be able to insert a stack of bills, often between 30-50 bills at a time, and the machine will count them up automatically.Checks to be deposited.Older machines may require you to use a deposit slip in order to deposit a check, but for most modern machines you can simply feed the check into the ATM.If you don't have a deposit envelope, the ATM will give you instructions. If you need to fill out a deposit envelope, it's better to get the envelope from the machine and then exit out of the transaction, filling out the details and depositing the check in a safe location.Once the envelope is prepared, simply return to the machine and insert your card again.
Step 8: You should check your account balance.
If you use an ATM with your bank, you should be able to check your account balance or how much money you have in it.The balance can be printed out on a receipt or sheet of paper and displayed on the screen.
Step 9: You can transfer money or make payments.
You can use the bank's ATMs to transfer money between multiple accounts you hold with the same bank. You may be able to make payments on your bank account.
Step 10: Follow the instructions to end your session.
You have to follow the on-screen instructions in order to leave and get your card back.Sometimes a short cut can be to simply press the red X on the keyboard, which is similar to the "back" option on a computer.
Step 11: Don't forget to take your money and card.
When you're in a hurry, it's easy to forget to take your money or card, but be careful and take all of your belongings. You might have set the phone down on the machine.
Step 12: It's time to switch to mobile banking.
If you bank with one of the major banks, you can use mobile banking.Mobile banking, which uses your smart phone, allows you to deposit checks, check your balance, transfer money, and many other services from the ATM.
