You can make a flower pen if you want to make something worthwhile. At baby and bridal showers, birthday parties, or just to give your regular writing implements a little flair, flower pens can be used.Flower pens are a great way to express your creativity.
Step 1: Pick up your materials.
You will need fake flowers from the craft store, green floral tape, wire cutters, and a pen.If you want to make a bouquet or give a variety of gifts, it is best to buy a bulk pack of cheap pens at your local dollar store.
Step 2: The flower stems need to be cut to 1.5 inches.
If you use a wire cutter to clip your fake flower, it may be brittle enough to just wiggle back and forth and break. If there are leaves attached to the stem of your fake flower, you can either cut them off with scissors or keep them.If you want to wrap the leaves in a bouquet, be sure to leave a bit of the main stem at the end.
Step 3: Take the ink out of the machine.
Measure how deep you want to place your flowers. If you want the flower stem to fit after it in the pen, you'll need to cut off about 1 inch from the ink cartridge.
Step 4: Attach the stem of your fake flower to the leaves.
If you want your fake flower stem to fit down the shaft of the pen, make sure you wrap your leaves with green floral tape. You can use green floral tape to tape the flower stems outside the shaft of the pen if you want to include a lot of leaves.Regardless of where you place the flower stems, the green floral tape will be wrapped along the entire shaft.
Step 5: The flower stem should be stuck in after the ink is back.
Use scissors or a wire cutter to adjust the length of a flower stem. You can place the tape against the pen as you wrap it.To make sure your wrap is snug, hold the bottom of the pen.
Step 6: Wrap the green tape around until you hit the tip of the pen at the top.
To create the illusion of a single stem, tape slowly over the drop of the stem.As you make your way downward, keep a consistent wrap pattern. As you cover any sign of the pen shaft, be sure to keep your wrap tight. You can try a pattern with your stem wrap if you have the time and skill. You can layer parallel lines with a zig zag.If your floral tape isn't sticky enough, use double sided tape.If you intend to use the pen for writing rather than display, you may leave space for your grip.
Step 7: You should get 2 or more rolls of duct tape.
One green roll of duct tape is all you'll need for the stem and petals. You can use Duct tape in a variety of colors to make your flower.
Step 8: Cut a piece of green or dark duct tape that is about 3 inches long and fold it around to cover the pen shaft.
You can measure the length of the duct tape with your pen.To make sure your pen can still close, mark the edge of your cap with a sharpie.Line up the edge of the tape with the line you just marked by placing your pen vertically against the piece of duct tape.To measure from the top of your pen to the line you marked with your sharpie, cut the tape.Put the tape on the pen.The pen may be wrapped around to create a pattern.
Step 9: You can pick the color of your flowers.
To make sure you keep the pattern you want, design your flower to include all pink or an assortment of petals.Duct tape colors can be found at an art supply store compared to a hardware store.
Step 10: To make a single petal, you need to fold the sides of a piece of duct tape.
Cut a piece of duct tape that is about a third of the length of your pen.To make a triangle, fold the top of the duct tape. The extra tape at the bottom of the triangle will stick to your pen with the top pointing out.You can cut the duct tape into a triangle instead of folding it in.
Step 11: Continue to add petals as you create your look.
Continue to cut or fold small triangle shapes with a little extra tape at the bottom, and stick them onto the top of the pen.You should follow the design you have laid out if the petals are pointing out to the top.If you build up your flower buds by petals, your pen will look like a real flower.
Step 12: Make sure you have your supplies.
You will need a pen, paper towels, and tape.Food coloring or watercolor paint can be used to color the petals of your flower.Too much decorations can become gaudy, so remember that less can be more.
Step 13: Cut your paper towels.
Standard size paper towels are required. You will need 10 sheets to stack on top of each other. You can use this to create a larger flower for your pen.
Step 14: Cut the edges of the scallops.
Smooth and rounded edges along the entire border of your paper towels can be created using regular scissors or special scalloping scissors. As you cut the paper towels, keep them stacked. The design of the scallops has to be consistent around the edges.
Step 15: Make a colorful design.
You can use food coloring or watercolor paint to dip the borders. You can experiment with different colors on different parts of the paper towel. You can leave the paper towel white for an elegant look. The color can ruin an otherwise appealing effect, so be careful with your design.Put the towel in a dry place. Then, use other paper towels.
Step 16: The paper towel stack should be folded like an accordion.
You can make a paper fan by folding the paper towel stack. As you fold it, make sure to keep the crease smooth. If all paper towels are dry, fold the paper towel stack.
Step 17: Pinch and secure with tape.
To secure the shape with clear tape, pinch the accordion-like stack of paper towels at the middle. The entire flower will become undone if the tape is not tightly wrapped at this point.
Step 18: Take the petals and fluff them.
You can make your flower bloom by fluffing both sides of the paper towel. As you fluff the petals, be careful not to rip the towel. If you want to add color, make sure the petals are dry.
Step 19: The tape needs to be cut in the center.
The end of the paper towel stack is the flower. To make sure the flowers don't come undone, tape as many layers as you need in the center of the stack. If needed, reinforce each stem with more tape by cutting at the center of the stack. The amount of tape needed at the neck of each flower depends on the fluffiness of the petals.
Step 20: Glue the leaves to the stem.
You can glue fake leaves with your flower. You can either add the leaves to the flower or the pen.
Step 21: Put the flower on the pen.
The shaft of your pen should be against the neck of the flower.Wrap your flower with green tape.To secure your flower in place, be sure to wrap the tape around as many times as you need to, as the flower will be fluffy relative to the size of your pen.
