A UCBL foot orthosis is a rigid, plastic arch support designed to correct the position of your foot.The foot orthosis was designed at the University of California-Berkeley Lab.The UCBL foot orthosis has a higher trim line than other arch supports.

The instructions were designed to help you care for and clean your UCBL.Let your orthotist know if you have any questions after reading these instructions.Compliance with your health care providers instructions is important for effective use of this device.In addition to those provided here, be sure to follow any special instructions given to you by your physician or orthotist.

The orthosis can fit comfortably in a shoe that has enough room for both feet.Ask your orthotist if you need help choosing a shoe.

Begin wearing your new orthosis for 1 hour at a time, and then take it off for 20 to 30 minutes.If you want to rest your foot for the first few days, wear the orthosis.This will allow your foot to get used to it.

When you remove the orthosis, check your foot for red pressure areas.After 15 to 30 minutes, call your orthotist if the reddened area doesn't fade.If you have poor sensation in your feet, this is important.

If your orthosis feels awkward, don't worry.A new brace doesn't feel right at first.Over the course of two weeks, your brace should begin to feel natural.
