The H23A DOHC VTEC Engine is largest displacement in the H Series engines with a compression ratio of 10.6:1. Found in the Japanese 1998-2002 Accord Wagon SiR (CH9). It produces 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) @ 6,800 rpm & 163 lb⋅ft (221 N⋅m) @ 5,300 rpm and comes with a "blue top".
Is the H23 a good engine?
The H23 is a good motor, but I think it's primarily because it's an H22. You can bring the H23 to H22 power levels with very little work, but I think from the standpoint of "what motor to get" the H22 is a much better foundation.

What is the difference between H22A and h22a4?
The backs of the blocks are configured slightly different. The oil pans and lower timing covers are slightly different. The crank angle sensor is located in the distributor on a h22a and on the oil pump in the h22a4. All of the internals from the A will go into the a4.
What's better H22A or H23A?
H22A vtec or H23A vtec? The H22A is better. H23 has a really small Intake Manifold and TB which causes it not to make more power (197hp).
Is the h23a1 VTEC?
h23a1 is the non-VTEC 160hp motor stock. If your valve cover says VTEC, then you have a VTEC head on the h23a1 block.
