There's nothing like barbecuing in warm weather. If you want your food to taste good, it's important to keep your grill clean. It can be hard to know how to clean a grill with a metal surface. If you want to keep your grill looking and performing well, you have to use the right products and techniques.
Step 1: The baking soda and water should be mixed together.
To clean a grill grate, add baking soda and water to a small bowl.To make a paste, mix the two together.Baking soda should be mixed with warm water to blend more easily.
Step 2: Allow the paste to sit on the grate.
Clean hands or a rag can be used to apply the baking soda paste to the grill grate.Make sure to cover the entire surface, pay special attention to the dirtiest spots, and allow the paste to sit on the grate for at least 20 minutes.Remove the grate from the grill before applying the paste. That will allow you to cover both sides.
Step 3: If you want to keep the grate clean, coat it with oven cleaner.
If you haven't cleaned your grate in a while, it might need a more intense cleanser. There is a generous coat of oven cleaner spray on both sides of the grate.Allow the grate to sit in the garbage bag overnight. If the baking soda paste doesn't work, you can use the oven cleaner. It's not necessary to do both if your grate is dirty and baking soda is left behind. You can use any oven cleaner to clean the grate, but you may want to use a cleanser that is specifically designed for use on both ovens and grills.
Step 4: The grill brush can be used to scrub the grate.
After you have let the baking soda paste or the oven cleaner sit on the grate for a while, use a wire grill brush to scrub the entire surface. The brush should be run between the sides of the grate to remove the cooked-on bits.Make sure your grill brush is in good shape before you use it.There should be no bristles coming out.
Step 5: Dry the grate with water.
Use your garden hose to spray the grate with warm water once you have given it a good scrubbing with the brush.Remove all of the cleanser and dirt and then dry the grate with a clean towel.Prepare for the next barbecue by returning it to the grill. If the grill grate is dirty, you may need to clean it more than once.
Step 6: After every use, brush the grate.
When your grill grate is clean, you want to keep it that way. While the grill is still warm, use your grill brush to scrub the grate down to remove any food debris. Before placing food on the grill, preheat it.That will help keep items out of the grate. It's a good idea to oil your food before placing it on the grate to prevent it from sticking to the surface.
Step 7: The flame tamers should be brushed.
The flame tamers sit on top of the burners to form a barrier. To remove food debris from the tamers, you should use a dry wire brush. After that, wipe them down with a piece of paper towel. Before you clean the interior components of your grill, make sure it is cool and not turned on.You should consult the owner's manual if you don't know where the flame tamers are. They are also known as heat tents.
Step 8: Food can be removed from the burners.
The burners will be underneath when you take out the flame tamers.Food can accumulate on the burners.Clean tube, flat, U-shape, and cast burners with a small, dry wire brush, paying special attention to the burner port area where the gas comes out.Do not clean ceramic burners with a brush. If you want to burn off food, turn the grill on for 10 minutes and then turn it off.You should consult the owner's manual if you don't know what type of burners your grill has.
Step 9: Rub the venturi tubes with soapy water.
The venturi tubes can easily get dirty.According to the instructions in the owner's manual, remove the entire burner assembly and rub it and the tubes down with a cloth. To rinse the tube, run a damp cloth over it.The venturi tubes have small holes along the sides and ends. They can either be connected to the burner assembly or straight out of it.If you don't know what your grill's venturi tubes look like, you should consult your owners manual.
Step 10: There are holes in the venturi tubes.
It is easy for insects and other debris to build up inside the venturi tube, which can cause your grill to not work properly. To clean the holes on the tube, use a wire brush. The owner's manual can be used to figure out how to put the tube and assembly back together. It can be dangerous to lit the grill if it isn't in place.A small piece of wire can be used to clean the holes in the tube.To determine if there is a problem with your garden hose, you may want to run it through the tube.
Step 11: The detergent and water should be put in the dish.
Because they are not designed to be used on surfaces that get very hot, it is best not to use them on the grill.Add some liquid dish detergent to the warm water in the bucket and it will create a soapy solution.Never use a cleanser that is acidic or abrasive. The finish will be damaged.
Step 12: The grill's exterior should be wiped with the mixture.
You mixed the soapy solution with the microfiber cleaning cloth.Run it over the grill's exterior to make sure it doesn't get scratched.Use a microfiber cloth to wash the exterior.Other fabrics can scratch the finish.
Step 13: There are stubborn spots and you have to scrub them with a sponge.
If there are areas where dirt is stuck on, wet a sponge in the soapy solution.Rub it over the areas, but make sure to move in the direction of the grain to prevent scratches.A soft sponge is fine to use on a grill, but don't use a scouring pad or steel wool. They are going to scratch the surface.
Step 14: The exterior needs to be washed with water.
You can spray the grill with your garden hose after cleaning it.Warm water is needed to get all of the soapy mess off the steel.
Step 15: The grill should be dry with a microfiber cloth.
After washing the grill with soap and water, wipe it down with a towel.Move the microfiber cloth in the direction of the grain for the best finish. If the grill is dry, you may want to use a cleaner wipe to give it a more polished appearance.
