How To Email Zip Files

ZIP files make it easy to access multiple types of documents.It eliminates the need to attach multiple files at once, which can take up time and cause files to be missed or lost in the process.There are many ways to send a ZIP file.

Step 1: It is possible to try a different e-mail provider.

ZIP files may not be allowed by some e-mail providers for reasons such as security concerns or incapability.Your recipient may not be able to open or extract ZIP files.You could contact them with a different e-mail.

Step 2: ZIP files are separated.

The size of your ZIP file may become too large for your e-mail provider to send if you compress a lot of files.Most e-mail providers limit the size of your attachments.Send two or more ZIP files in separate e-mails.You will need to extract the files if you are sending a compressed ZIP file.They should be compressed separately.

Step 3: Use a custom file extension.

ZIP files may not be allowed to be attached by some e-mail providers.To trick your e-mail provider into thinking the file is not a ZIP file, you can change the extension.The file should be the same as a ZIP file but with a different extension name.You can create custom file extensions with ZIP programs.For example, if you type zea in an email, the attachment will be called "file.zeA" rather than " file.zip".This would allow you to send a ZIP file.This method doesn't always work.You will need to download third party programs to change the extension name of your ZIP file.

Step 4: Make sure your ZIP file attachment is uploaded before you send it.

If a file isn't uploaded completely, most e-mail providers will warn you.The uploading progress will be displayed by some e-mail providers.When a file is uploaded, you should see it under the main body of the e-mail.

Step 5: Go to the website of your email provider.

If you don't know your e-mail provider's website, look at the domain name of your own email address.Most of the time the domain name will be your e-mail provider.If you send an email to bob@gmail.com, you would go to the website "www.If you are using an application, open it up.Some business e-mails will have a company website instead of the email provider's website.Ask for your e-mail provider's website if you don't hear back from IT or tech support.

Step 6: Send a new email.

The ability to create a new e-mail should be an option.The red bar is labelled "COMPOSE".A blank message should show up.The option labelled "New" is located at the top of the page and has a symbol of a circle with a plus beside it.Click on the left side column to compose the page.The pencil and paper are on the left corner of the window.It should be next to an icon.The top left corner of the window has an icon labelled "create mail".A picture of an envelope should be next to a blank piece of paper.

Step 7: Attach your file.

Most e-mail providers and applications will allow you to send any type of file as long as it is within their size limit.Click "attach file" if you want to locate your ZIP file from your computer.The attachment field should show the name and type of file you uploaded once your ZIP file is located.To view it, you can click the attachment.The paper clip is on the bottom of the message.The paper clip should read, "Attach files".Attach your ZIP file with a window that pops up.Click on the blue bar at the top of the page to insert.There should be a drop down menu.Click on the file to attach it.The paper clip is on the bottom of the message.The paper clip is located at the top right corner of your message.Click the paper clip labelled "Attach" to view the file.

Step 8: You can send an e-mail.

You should include the recipient's e-mail address, a subject for your email, and a message.If the ZIP file you are sending is large, it may take a while for your message to be received.To make sure your e-mail is successful, check your mailbox and outbox.

Step 9: Click on it.

There should be a variety of options in the drop down menu.You can save a ZIP file in your Documents folder if you are creating one.

Step 10: To send your file, click the option.

ZIP files will be attached to a new blank message when you open up your default e-mail program on your computer.Go to the option to share the file.A menu should appear.Click on the box labeled "Mail".Click on the file to send it.Click, "Mail Recipient".

Step 11: Send it to me.
