Cucumbers can be eaten in a variety of ways. You can have this treat year-round if you grow cucumbers indoors.Cucumber plants spread out over a large area of the ground, but you can plant varieties of cucumbers indoors that are well suited to flourish in containers, and that have been bred to grow and produce fruit without pollination.
Step 1: Cucumber seeds that don't need pollination are a good choice.
To conserve space, be sure to buy a dwarf variety.
Step 2: Pick a large pot.
Cucumbers need lots of room to grow.Cucumbers can be grown in pots.
Step 3: Place some small stones, clay shards or gravel in the bottom of the pot to aid drainage and to keep the roots from getting soggy.
If you don't have rocks or gravel, you can put a small pot upside down in the middle of a large pot.
Step 4: You should fill your planting pot with 50% soil and 50% compost.
You will run the risk of bringing pests indoors if you use dirt from the garden.
Step 5: About 1/2” (12mm) deep, Plant 4 to 5 seeds.
If possible, divide the seeds by more than one inch.Growth will be hampered by planting them too close together.
Step 6: Water the soil thoroughly so that it is not soupy.
The water has to drain from the bottom of the pot.
Step 7: The cucumber planter should be in a sunny window.
The plant should get at least 6 hours of sunlight a day.
Step 8: To grow to a height of 2 to 3” (50 to 75mm), allow the seedlings to grow.
Thin them before they reach the minimum height.
Step 9: The strongest plants should be pulled out of the soil.
Don't disturb the soil around the 2 plants you want to keep.
Step 10: The remaining 2 plants should grow to a height of about 10”
If the plants are not getting the same amount of sunlight, it's time to change the planter.
Step 11: If you want to keep the healthiest of the two plants, cut it off at the base.
You will get one cucumber plant that will produce well and won't be crowded.
Step 12: You can train the vine to climb if you put a stick near the plant.
The plant will start climbing as much as 1" every day if you don't wait too long.
Step 13: To keep the soil moist, water your plant frequently.
The roots are getting wet if the water doesn't drain out from the bottom of the planter.
