If you were a non-believer, having a good life as a Christian can look a little different.Maintaining your relationship with the Lord and following His commands will give you greater satisfaction than prizing your worldly possessions. If you make these things a priority, you will find that you are more content and able to handle any difficulties that come your way.
Step 1: Ask Jesus questions in your life.
Before you can live a good Christian life, you need to become a follower of Christ.Ask Jesus to forgive you for any sins you have committed in your life.If you can get him to come into your heart, you will be able to turn away from those sins.Jesus said in John 14:6 that he was the way and the truth.Everyone comes to the Father through me.Only a follower of Jesus can have a relationship with God.While each person's prayer is personal, it might go something like this: "Dear Lord, I know I haven't always been perfect."I want to ask you to forgive me for the times I've lied or been impatient.I want to be like you.I need your help to become a better person.Amen.
Step 2: You should confess your sins to God.
The Bible says you must confess your sins in order to be a follower of Jesus, but this isn't the end of the story. You're going to make mistakes as a human. If you do something that you know was wrong, ask God to forgive you and help you overcome that sin in the future. The Bible says that if we confess our sins, God will forgive us and purify us from unrighteousness.
Step 3: You can strengthen your bond with God by praying.
It's important to communicate with God after you've asked him into your life. The Bible says to pray without stopping.Thank God for all of the blessings in your life, praise Him for his goodness, and ask for His guidance as you make decisions. You can use the model prayer Jesus gave in Matthew 6:9-13 as an example of how to talk to God.The Lord's Prayer says, "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as in Heaven."Give us bread today. We should forgive those who sin against us.We will be delivered from evil if you lead us not into temptation. The power and glory are yours forever.Amen.The Psalms is a book full of various prayers to God and is an example of how to pray.
Step 4: It's a good idea to read your Bible.
If you want to hear what God has to say, you need to study the Bible. You can read the Bible from start to finish, pick a book to study for a while, or read guided devotionals for insight into what different verse might mean.To have a close relationship with Jesus, you need to study his words.Jesus says in John 6:63 that the words he has spoken to you are his spirit and life.
Step 5: For fellowship and worship, join a group of like-minded followers.
A church where God's word is being taught is a good place to join if you want to strengthen your relationship with Christ. You will get relevant teachings from church leaders, as well as other believers, and a space where you can worship freely.Missions, Bible study groups, and other fun activities will enrich your life. The Bible says that when you meet together, you can encourage one another, but not at the expense of love and good works.
Step 6: The temptation to sin can be avoided if you try.
If you want to have a good life as a Christian, you'll have to do your best to avoid sins.Since sin is part of God's will for your life, it can feel almost impossible to avoid them all.If you do commit a sin, try to do better next time and pray for God's forgiveness. The Bible lists a number of sins to avoid, including sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, idolatry, anger, wrath, malice, slander, and lying.John says obeying God's laws is a way to show Jesus that you love him.He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.
Step 7: Give others love, charity, and forgiveness.
You can channel God's love for you into the way you treat other people. If someone hurts you, forgive them the way God has forgiven you for your sins.Reach out to help when you see someone in need, and encourage and support the people you meet as much as you can.The Bible tells you to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and angry.Jesus told his followers to be peaceful, meek, and righteous in a speech known as The Beatitudes."Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven," says the Beatitudes. Those who mourn will be comforted. The meek will inherit the earth. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled. They will be shown mercy. They will see God, for they are pure in heart. The peacemakers will be called sons of God.The kingdom of heaven is for those who are righteous.
Step 8: Don't fall into the trap of being materialistic.
The Bible says that the things of the world are worth more than earthly possessions. If you want to let go of the idea that you need certain items in order to be happy, you have to achieve a level of success that society has set as important.Make your relationship with God the priority of your life. The Bible says don't love the world or things in it.The love of the Father is not in anyone.Lust, beauty, and material objects are things the world says are important, rather than God's values. The next verse says, "For all that is in the world, the desires of the flesh and the eyes and pride in possessions are not from the Father."(1 John 2:16)
Step 9: God wants you to serve others.
Service is an important part of living a Christian life, so look for opportunities in your life to give back to others.Your call to service might be to go into the ministry to share God's word, you might feel called to gather school supplies for disadvantaged youth in your community, or to remain a faithful, honest employee where you work.Helping other people will please God, but it will also give you a sense that you're doing good in the world, which can be very fulfilling."Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves," says Philippians 2:3-4.You should look at the interests of others as well as your own. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.
Step 10: Share your faith with others.
Jesus told His followers to spread his word."Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation," he said in Mark 16:15If you want to share your faith with others, you need to witness what your relationship with Christ means to you. This could mean talking to strangers about your beliefs, or it could be showing God's love by your actions.Jesus said in the book of Mark that you should be proud to share your faith. There is a city on a hill.People don't put a lamp under a bowl. They put it on the stand so that everyone in the house could see it.Let your light shine so that men will see your good deed and praise your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:14-16
