Are you running out of space on your iPad?As you use your iPad, files and apps will accumulate, leaving you with less free space for new content.Taking a few minutes to clear out the cruft can give you plenty of space for new apps and media as well as improve your iPad's performance.You can learn how to view and manage the storage on your iPad.
Step 1: You can open your iPad's settings.
The gear icon can be found on your home screen or in your app library.
Step 2: The General menu has a tap on it.
The left panel has it.
Step 3: You can tap iPad storage.
It is in the middle of the menu.
Step 4: You can find your usage information at the top of the screen.
This is where you can see an image that shows the data on your iPad.The total amount of space and amount used on your iPad are shown at the top.System files, media, apps, and other data can be seen in the colored bars.
Step 5: You can see your storage-saving recommendations.
The "Recommendations" section below the general storage information gives you ideas for freeing up space, such as turning on iCloud Photos or offloading unused apps.Next to each recommendation is the amount of space you'll save.To see all the recommendations, tap.If you want to use a recommended solution, tap next to it.
Step 6: You can see used storage space by app.
If you have any, you can see a list of apps on your iPad.The app that takes up the most space is listed first, followed by the app with the least space.
Step 7: You can see what's taking up space with an app.
The amount of space consumed by the app itself is the first section of App Size.The documents and data section tells you how much space is used by the app.If you are using the Apple Podcasts app, you will see the size of the app as well as the amount of space consumed by downloaded podcasts.
Step 8: You don't need to back up app data.
Depending on the app you're looking at, you can see a list of files or options for viewing, backing up, or deletion of data.This is common in Apple's apps.To remove episodes you don't need, you can tap above the list of saved episodes.The red-and-white minus sign is needed to remove each episode.You can empty the Recently Deleted album by tapping on it in the Photos app.
Step 9: Remove unused apps.
If you want to remove an app that uses a lot of storage space, tap.Select will temporarily uninstall the app while keeping the data on your iPad.In most cases, the data saved by the app is what is taking up space.Deleting the app will usually free up more data than offloading it will.
Step 10: You can open your settings on your iPad.
The gear icon can be found on your home screen or in your app library.The storage on your actual iPad is different from what you have on iCloud.Your iCloud storage can fill up if you back up your files to the cloud.
Step 11: You should tap your name.
It's at the top of the screen.
Step 12: Go to iCloud.
Information about your storage can be seen here.
Step 13: At the top of the screen is where you can find your general storage information.
This is where you can see an image that shows the type of data taking up space.Messages, docs, and Mail are some of the types of data represented in the colored bars.
Step 14: There are apps and services that save data to iCloud.
If you see a green/On switch next to an app or service, it's sending data to your account.The data is only stored on your iPad if the switch is gray.
Step 15: Go to Manage Storage and scroll up.
It is at the top of the menu.
Step 16: You can see how much space is consumed by each service.
You can get a more detailed breakdown of the data saved to your account by app/service on this page.The order in which the apps and services are listed is based on how much space the app or service consumes.Next to "Change Storage Plan" is your total amount of iCloud space.If you need more space, you can upgrade.
Step 17: You can manage the data with an app or service.
When you tap the name of an app, you'll usually see the option to remove documents and data from it.You can see different options by app.
Step 18: You can remove documents and data to free up space.
You can remove its files from the cloud if you see an option like this.If you have access to other files, you should do this.You can browse for and remove specific folders from the drive if you select this option.Your iPad will no longer save messages to iCloud if you select.If you don't like it, tap to see which conversations are taking up the most space and then remove them.
Step 19: You can open your iPad's settings.
The gear icon can be found on your home screen or in your app library.All of your photos and videos are automatically uploaded and stored on your iCloud Drive, so they can be accessed on any device.Every device that has iCloud Photo Library turned on will download and store a copy of each photo onto its local storage.If you have iCloud Photo Library enabled on your Mac and iPad, your photos will be uploaded to your iPad and vice-versa.
Step 20: You can tap your name.
The settings menu has it at the top.
Step 21: You can tap on the cloud.
The second group of settings has it.
Step 22: There are Tap Photos.
It's at the top of the list.The word "Off" is next to Photos if you aren't backing up your photos to iCloud.
Step 23: It is possible to turn on or off the iCloud Photos.
To enable or disabling iCloud Photos, tap the switch.Your photos and videos will not be backed up if you turn off iCloud Photos.If you're running short on space, you can always turn this off to prevent your photos from being uploaded to your iPad.If you turn on iCloud Photos, you will be able to download any photos from your account to your iPad, as well as sync new photos and videos to the cloud.
Step 24: It is possible to conserve space on your iPad.
If iCloud Photos is enabled, you'll see this option.In order to reduce the amount of local storage needed, the iPad will be able to download optimized versions of the photos.
Step 25: You can open the Photos app.
The Photos app can be used to remove photos and videos from your iPad.Photos and videos from your iPad will be deleted from the iCloud Photo Library.
Step 26: You can tap all photos.
The Library tab is at the bottom-right corner.You can go to the Library tab if you aren't on it.
Step 27: You can tap select.
The top-right corner is where it is."Select items" is on the bottom.
Step 28: You can tap each photo to remove it.
A blue-and-white checkmark appears at the bottom-right corner when you select a photo for deletion.
Step 29: The trash can has a icon.
It is at the bottom right corner.
Step 30: There is a number of photos and items.
The photos and videos will stay in the Recently Deleted folder for 30 days.Since your photos and videos are still in that folder, you haven't freed up space on your iPad yet.
Step 31: There are albums that you can tap.
It's at the bottom of the screen.
Step 32: Click recently deleted to scroll down.
It is under "Utilities."
Step 33: Select.
It is at the top right corner.
Step 34: Go to the next page and remove all.
At the bottom-right is where it is.A confirmation will show up.
Step 35: A number of photos and items are being deleted.
You'll have recovered space on your iPad once the selected items are deleted.
Step 36: You can open the settings app on your iPad.
The gray gear icon can be found on your home screen or in your app library.
Step 37: There is a Tap General.
It's at the top of the menu.
Step 38: You can tap iPad storage.
It is in the middle of the menu.
Step 39: Click Music to scroll down.
You can find it by using the search icon at the top-right.
Step 40: There is a tap on the screen.
You have a list of downloaded music.You can remove an individual song, album, artist, or playlist.
Step 41: The minus sign is used to remove music you no longer want.
A confirmation will show up.
Step 42: To confirm, tap the button.
The music is removed from your iPad.
Step 43: The back button can be used to select Apple TV.
If you want to remove downloaded movies and shows from Apple TV, do this.
Step 44: You can review the Apple TV Downloads.
If you have downloaded content, this option appears.
Step 45: You can wipe left on the show or movie.
A button will appear.
Step 46: Go to the next page.
You can free up space by removing the video from your iPad.These steps can be repeated for Apple books as well.
Step 47: You can open the Messages app.
Saving messages could take up a lot of space if you use your iPad to send messages.If you send and receive a lot of images and video through the Messages app, this is especially true.
Step 48: Large attachments can be deleted.
The photos and videos you've shared with the other person can be deleted if you don't want an entire conversation.It's easy to get rid of the images and videos in the message.At the top of the message, tap the person's name.Next to " Photos".If you want to remove a photo or video, tap it.To remove the selected attachments, tap at the bottom.
Step 49: The button is on the bottom of the screen.
It's at the top of the screen.It makes it possible to remove multiple text messages at the same time.
Step 50: On the menu, tap Select Messages.
You'll be able to select more than one message.
Step 51: You can remove the messages by tapping them.
A blue-and-white checkmark will appear when you mark a conversation for deletion.All of the images and messages in a conversation will be erased when you uninstall it.If you want to save pictures to your camera roll, be sure to copy down important information.
Step 52: The conversation list has a button at the bottom.
