San Francisco GateWorld's Healthiest Tater Tots! - Chocolate Covered Broccoli

I am serious. When you read the ingredients, roll your eyes, and say there is no way this recipe will turn out, it is one of those recipes.

I came across a recipe for no potato tater tots in the book.It was not possible that the ingredients listed on the page could be similar to a tater tot.

These taters are high in important vitamins and minerals. There is no need for a deep-fryer in this recipe.

The white beans should be mashed in a large bowl.If you use unsalted beans, you can add a little extra to compensate.Except for oil, mix the remaining ingredients.A handful of dough at a time, form 1 inch thick long logs on a chopping board. To make the tots, cut logs into thick slices. If you want to coat the pan, warm the skillet over low heat and pour in a little olive oil.I did these in two batches and used a small amount of olive oil.I fry a few separately in oil spray to make sure it would work, as I knew people would ask about that option.Place tots in the pan and cook for a while. To brown tots evenly, use a spatula. If you want to serve homemade tots immediately, you can freeze them.It was served 3-6.

Although I have never been completely sold on the health benefits of superfoods, I found the recipes in the Superfood Kitchen by Julie Morris to be delicious. Is there a Spaghetti with Cashew Cream Sauce and Chard? Is there a Hearty Kale and Black Eyed Pea Stew?Is it a Superfood Sangria?Yes, please!Along with the recipes, Ms. Morris has included a catalogue of superfood ingredients.I recommend this book for anyone looking to break out of a cooking rut and experience a whole array of new flavors.

I don't go out of my way to eat things just because they're good for you, but my diet is accidentally filled with things that are. There is chocolate.I have chocolate listed five times.

The Today Show, CNN, Fox, The Huffington Post, and ABC's 5 O'Clock News all feature a story about Chocolate Covered Katie. She eats dessert every single day, and her favorite food is chocolate.

These are so cool!I love quinia and haven't made tots in a long time, so I'll be curious to try these. Thanks for the recipe!

Oh!I really like this book. The bread is made from bananas. The chocolate energy bars are insane. The land and sea trail mix is one of my favorites.Ever!I could eat the kabocha quinoa rissoto every week.It was delicious! We should all be so lucky to own a copy of this book, because you showcased one of her recipes.I am done.

Hi there!Even if I am not an expert and you are.I think you should link to the actual post instead of using the image of "the link of the day" to do so.Seeing that we are used to this kind of thing, I thought it would be a nice thing. It sounds like an effective way to increase your intake.

I think this recipe is a hit with my toddler and 4 year old.I would love to have this cookbook in my collection.

Where can I get white miso, I am new to following you.You already have a post on some specialty ingredients on your website.

The paste is made from soy bean.It has a salty flavor.White miso has the mildest flavor.I haven't seen it at a regular grocery store, but I get mine at Whole Foods. It can be found in an Asian food store. There is a refrigerated section.

I can't find it where I live.I have had luck with previous recipes adding packets of instant ramen or liquid soup base, which I usually find at the grocery store.

Wow!These are amazing.I made frozen-from-a-bag sweet potato tater tots the other day to go with lentil sloppy joes but am so excited to try these!I have a meal plan.

I didn't think beans were going to be the magic ingredient, but these look great!

I'm completely fascinated.I tried cauliflower tots and they didn't work, but I think white beans would work better.I am putting together a list of apps for a Super Bowl party.

We made them! They were delicious dipped in mustard.I used soy sauce and sesame seeds instead of the flaxseeds because I didn't have miso. Can't wait to open this cookbook with you.Have a great weekend!

It was a wicked recipe.A good well balanced diet is the way to go and I am sure that superfoods is more of a hype. The book looks good.Thank you for sharing.

I am from Germany and I don't know what it is.I really want to try your receipt.

The meal is made from the seed.It creates a meal when it's ground.I think Amazon sells it, but I don't know where else you can get it.I'm not sure if it's a soy product or not.You could also buy that on Amazon.Hope that helps!

Hallo Jessy, wei bekommst Duweder im Reformhaus.Im Leinsamen mahlen mach me, so ne uralte Kaffeemhle."For all who wonder what I wrote, I just told her where to get the above mentioned in German."

I don't know how chocolate would taste on these, but they are going in my oven asap! Thanks!

I haven't had tater tots since I was six years old, but I remember how great they were.White beans are a great base for these tots because of their lovely fiber. You have a well rounded meal if you add some greens. Thanks for letting us know about the recipe.

These are very creative.I have not had tater tots since I was 5 years old. These may be too cute to pass up.It's definitely different than the potato version.

I had some tater tots last night and wanted to make some at home, these look great. If the tater tots are healthy, I won't feel bad making a sauce to dip them in.

The tater-tots look crazy. They are made from beans.Almonds, walnuts, salmon, chia seed, olive oil, coconut, eggs, sweet potatoes, and chocolate are some of the foods I love to eat.

Looks delicious!I already made the smoky black eyed pea and kale stew and it was delicious, so I have to find this cookbook. Can't wait to try it.

Beans were the most surprising ingredient to me.I try to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, but right now my favorites are strawberries, almonds, and eggs.

I would like to request a healthy pudding recipe if you have time.I know you have tofu chocolate and agar, but I would prefer something that could be made quickly. The recipe my family usually makes uses a microwave and is very sweet.Thank you, anything would be appreciated.

I make a chocolate pudding with coconut milk, cocoa powder, a small amount of sweetener, and chia seeds, but I am not as good as CCK, so I would encourage you to wait for her recipe.Let chill and mix.

I'm obsessed with this website.Wow.I am glad this was posted because I know it is called Chocolate Covered.I thank you so much for posting a review of the book, it always looks 4 new recipes that are good, healthy, and unique!I like mock meals a lot.I need 2 use up this Miso because I am sick of eating soup now.I think this would be a great recipe if you used some of my okara.

I can't do it with out. There are chia seeds and/or flaxseeds.I use it for my Omegas and Egg replacer. It has made a huge difference in my life.I didn't have an explanation for the aches and pains on my life. When I started incorporating in my life, I no longer had horrible painful fingers when the weather changed. All of the pains came back after I went off it for a while.I am on it all the time. The recommended dose for an adult is 2T about 3x a week.Which is what I do.They are in my baked goods.

The only odd thing I found in this recipe is that it calls for 4 whole flax seed, I was not sure if it would be included.

Suggestions on subs for brown rice flour?I have a lot of flours, but I don't want to make a special trip out for that if I could use some other flour.I got corn, potato, and arrow root.

I plan to use a little garbanzo bean flour and millet flour because I ran out of brown rice flour.I replaced millet flour in a recipe and it worked well. These look great.I will make them tomorrow.

My diet?I made a peanut butter and oats recipe today.Pop one of those babies in the microwave for 15 seconds and then eat it with almond milk.

This sounds delicious!I like Tater tots.I'm trying to use what I have in stock, but it wouldn't be as healthy if I replaced all purpose flour with brown rice flour.

I wanted to correct something. You put chocolate as a super food 5 times. You should have added it at least five times more.I love your writing.I want to eat your baked oatmeal for breakfast and dessert every day, but I get fat if I do that.

I love your website.I have been following you for a long time and I love your posts. It is not as good as yours, but I wanted to let you know how much of an inspiration you are to me.

Are you talking about Tater tots?I can't say I've ever seen them.I think they look good, as you wouldn't be able to stop once you start.

Do you think you will be knocking them up tonight? They look nice for the weather we are having.

These are also easy to make.I think I could substitute the brown rice flour with another option.

I love adding superfoods to my meals, especially for my son.I always have a variety of foods. You can find it in the fridge or pantry.I want my son to get started early.

The Tater toons look great!I have a question about Eggy Breakfast Bread. How long does it stay in the fridge?I don't think I can eat a whole pan at once, so I want to find the best way to store the delicious leftovers.

This recipe is great.Thank you.I am going to read this book and make a smoothie for breakfast with bananas and different fruits.I add acai powder, chlorella and maca.It is a good way to start the day.

I'm glad to hear from you,Katie. It was funny how you said that reading through the recipe couldn't possibly work.I thought about your recipes when I first discovered you.I am sold on your recipe development genius after trying about a dozen of them.It has changed the way I bake forever because of you.I tried this recipe yesterday and it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.I was thinking about baking them.

To see if anyone baked these, scroll through the comments.I used an oil sprayed frying pan to make the first batches. My husband was surprised that I wasn't baking them, and he had no idea that tater tots are deep fried.I decided to bake second batches in the oven at 400.The tater tots came out much better than the ones from the frying pan.I recommend baking them.!

I scrolled through the comments to see if anyone had tried baking them. You are a genius, thanks for answering that question.

This looks great!I have not had tater tots in a long time. The recipe book looks great. If they can make it better, I will be there.

I do not have brown rice flour in my pantry. Can you suggest a substitution?I have leftover beans from white bean hummus that I want to use in these tots.!

These look good.My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.I immediately purchased the book because of my interest in health and healing. It lays out the healthiest cancer fighting foods and why they fight cancer as well as the research and physiology behind it.Greens, berries, onions, garlic, and green tea are some of the best.

Wow!Tater tots with white beans.I eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, and peanut butter. That's right.

Mmm!This is a must-try for me since I despise potatoes, but I really like the idea of a tater-tot with qunoi and flax. This sounds like a good side to a meal.

Can't wait to try this soon.I have never eaten tots before.Love the statistics on them.Looks like a great recipe book.

We haven't eaten tater tots in years because we used to go nuts on them before we had kids, so I might have to try and trick my family with these. Most people who start giving up the junk foods start introducing super foods into their diet. The good thing is the kids are used to eating them so they don't complain or think twice.I definitely recommend this one. Thanks to you.

That cookbook has some amazing things in it.I think I need one. Thanks for the tip!

Oh my god! This is insane.I made a bunch this morning.Really?I think I downed half the pan in one serving. They are delicious! It turned out great despite the fact that mine got a bit more burnt than yours due to using oil spray.

Do you know how long they last in the fridge, and what to pair them with?Do they stay the same after I freeze them?

There were many requests for subs for brown rice flour. You could grind it if you don't have it.If you have brown rice.We cannot eat soy subs.It would be a good sub.I don't know what it tastes like.I was never a fan of tater tots, but these sound good to try.

I bet coconuts would do the trick.I plan to try that recipe later this week, so I hope so.

I got this brand at a Co-op or Whole Foods. They don't have soy kinds. The chick pea is in my possession. There is a shop at the great-eastern-sun.com.

They came out great because I used garbanzo flour instead of brown rice flour.I wanted to make sure my onion was cooked thoroughly. They are going to be gone quickly.

I don't like potatoes. These are the only tater tots that are appealing to me.

Is it wrong to eat actual potatoes?I don't think it's smart to replace a whole food like potato with a substitute.

I don't have anything against potatoes.I wanted to try this recipe out of curiosity.Absolutely nothing against potatoes.I have recently been playing with a cinnamon roll recipe that uses mashed potato flakes.

I think it has to do with what you're ADDIng, not taking away- quinoa and beans are both superfoods, whereas potatoes are somewhat dull in the nutrition in comparison.

You mind reader!I was craving Ketchup and was looking for something to dip in.I am not a fan of potatoes/fries.Thanks!

I ended up subbing a lot because I assumed I had most of the ingredients. It was not an authentic faux tater tot but it still hit the spot.

I didn't have onion, but I added some other unkosher seasonings.

Hi!I like the link of the day.I immediately made brownies out of black bean.I am impressed.I make your single lady cupcakes all the time.Thank you for your recipes.

I would definitely try these since we have cut potatoes out of our eating habits.Maybe I'll get these nuggets knighted.

These are to die for.My son was making sure I didn't sneak a few.Does Julie have a website?

I wanted to link to it.It was hacked. Her website is juliemorris.net.

The whole and ground flaxseeds look good, but why?I didn't think the body could digest flaxseed.

There are a lot of healthy recipe ideas I think you would really like, if you get the time.

I don't go out of my way to eat most "superfoods", but I do have a lot of them in my diet.

I'm with you on the superfood thing. The recipe looks great. They have to try it.

There are a lot of foods in my family's diet, but they are just the way we eat.It isn't like we make a lot of effort.I changed my diet a couple years ago in order to combat severeAcne and my entire body responded so well I have just kept it up.

Hi!I tried to make these last night and they tasted great.Just like potatoes. How do you keep the tots from falling apart? The mine was falling apart.I ate mostlyhash browns.I used all of the ingredients.

In a way, it's a word.I made these last night as a snack to go with roasted veggies and baked oatmeal. When I told my husband I was making them, he said he was eating anything that I wasn't.I made quite a few changes based on what I had on hand and I am looking forward to trying it.I replaced whole wheat flour with brown rice flour. There is a soy sauce for miso.I had a bunch of millet in the fridge.

This recipe was great.I was lazy and didn't want to cook them in a pan, so I used the oven heat to warm up my apartment. If your readers want to try it, place the tots on a cookie sheet and bake them for 45-60 minutes.I would check them every 15 minutes.

I have 2 girls who love potato's and have never tried a tater tot, but I was a little unsure of these.I had to try it because I loved them as a child. My oldest who is 10 years old is not a fan of quinoa, but ate almost the whole bunch, it is a must try recipe, you will not be disappointed, I haven't found a bad recipe yet here.

I made a lot of replacements last night because they looked so good.I used chick peas, whole wheat flour, ground flax, onion powder, and soy sauce.I baked them on 400 degrees for 20 minutes, but I think that was too long. They were great.I put the chickpeas in my food processor first and added a little water to make them into a paste, then I added everything else and pulsed it until it came together.I put the dough on my board and divided it into 4 smaller rolls and cut them out.I gave them some salt and a spray of non-stick spray to crisp them up after baking them.It was so good and quick.I put the leftovers in the fridge to see how they are reheated. After one cooking, real tater tots aren't very good.If you want to be healthier and eat more tater tots, these are a great replacement.Potato tater tots had about 7 grams of fiber, but mine had 26 grams. They were good with condiments. The unadventurous eater of my husband liked them.Awesome!

I have tried to love it, but I just can not.I know it would change the healthiness of these, but can I roll them in panko instead?

I also saw these in the book.My husband has an allergy to quinoa.I was thinking about using riced cauliflower instead of quinoa and adding a little chickpea flour.

This is for 56 grams of tater tots. How many tots do I get for 56 grams or 100 calories?

I spied a can of pinto beans in the pantry and thought they would be easier to use since they are already mashed.Sorghum flour and chives were used. What a great recipe!I'm glad you shared it.I need to get my hands on that cookbook.I am going to make these with shredded potato in place of the beans because they don't always agree with me.

If you make the mixture with twice the amount of shredded raw potato, you can make delicious little potato patties. That's right. They are very crisp on the outside.

Thank you for sharing this recipe! This was the best way to get my 22 month old to eat quinoa because of his texture issue. The bean has an extra punch.Next time I will double the recipe, these were a hit with the whole family.

I was thinking of changing the recipe to include herbs and spices, garbanzo bean flour, and some yeast.Maybe a small amount of tahini?I used 1 sesame seeds instead of 1 flax.

No offense intended, but what is the point of making a tater tot without potatoes? There are many recipes out there for healthy tater tots that actually have potato. Why not use a vegetable? It would taste better if it were vegan and vegetarian.

This is a website that I love.I am obsessive.I'm going to make these tonight and have a small question: is the recipe calling for me to measure one cup of raw quinoa and then cook it, or is it for already cooked quinoa?I had thought that one cup of cooked quinoa might not be enough. Thanks for the amazing-ness!

These look and sound great.Do you think they would do well under the grill?

They said they had success baking them in the oven instead of pan-frying.

My "dough" was too soft to be roll-able, so I made these the other day. They came out fine, but I was wondering what consistency the dough was when you made them.

To make them healthier, instead of serving them with the chemical laden Heinz 57 shown, make your own catsup with tomato paste and vinegar.I may never buy bottled catsup again because it is cheap and easy, and I don't have to worry about the chemicals in it.

Will add these to our menu.My son is not a fan of quinoa, but I am not going to tell him what is in it.

I am definitely going to use homemade condiments. It's not very healthy. It's not good.

These are great! Is it possible to substitute cauliflower for the beans?Beans are a type of starch. We would still get fiber from cauliflower.

I like your recipes.Thank you so much. The better oils to use for cooking are coconut oil, butter, and perhaps canola oil and some others; they are more stable than olive oil.Best wishes to you!Lisa.

I was skeptical but impressed. They taste like tater tots.I know a lot of people can be picky, so I will say that even though the taste is not exact for them.It is close. These will satisfy you if you are craving tots.If you want brownies, make CCK's black bean brownies.I bought a single packet of white miso soup for $1.89 because I couldn't find it, and it worked great! This recipe will be passed on to me again.Thank you so much!

I love buffalo sauce so when I found a recipe for Buffalo Chicken Tater Tot casserole, I had to try it.As a health coach, I had to find a way to make tater tots healthier.I would like to thank you for your recipe.I want to try the casserole.Kelly.

I modified it a little bit, and it was great.Next time, I will add more salt.My 7 year old son has eaten this recipe and given it a thumbs up and it is one of the first plant based recipes he has ever eaten.

These were great!I just used a good pan to fry them.I got more fiber than most Americans get in an entire day if I put away half of them with a simple Asian dipping sauce. Thanks for the recipe!

I discovered this site a few days ago, and I want to try many of the recipes. You're a food and recipe genius. There is one question.I signed up for the bonus recipes a few days ago, but haven't received anything yet.I haven't received the recipes yet, but I activated it.Is there something else I need to do?

I apologize if the substitution of Oat flour was already mentioned in the recipe.I doubled the recipe and made these. They came out great using oat flour. The entire plate was finished by my boys. They are 7 and 5 years old.

The Today Show, CNN, Fox, The Huffington Post, and ABC's 5 O'Clock News all feature a story about Chocolate Covered Katie. She eats dessert every single day, and her favorite food is chocolate.
