Shades of Gray: Favorite Gray Paint colors.
The color gray has been all the rage lately.I'm not sure if it's an official quote or if I just made it up, but it sounds like Gray is the new beige. If you use the right shade of gray, the space will feel modern, clean and serene without being too cold.It creates a good base for a neutral scheme or a great neutral backdrop for spaces with pops of color in fabric or accessories.
I wanted to share my go-to gray paints that I love to use.I broke them down into subcategories. All the colors are connected to the Color Wheel and you can find my pick color scheme picks by clicking on a specific color.
Is it possible that I love these grays? It is true that I love them, but I feel like a broken record. They look gray on the walls, but don't feel too cold. They are called "greige" because they are warmer grays that have a beige or taupe hue to them.I spoke into some of the smaller categories.
Resitequi Gray is gorgeous as a paint color.Dovetail is a trendy trim color.Going darker on your trim can add an unexpected spin to your space and can create some depth against your wall color in an inside out way (most often trim is painted a lighter shade than the walls).Paint your kitchen cabinets a darker color.
I like the look of painting the lower cabinets gray while keeping the upper cabinets white or cream.Black Fox was painted on the inside of a door and it looked great.Try painting an accent wall with darker grays.See my previous post for more thoughts on using dark gray or black walls as accents.
Agreeable Gray and Anew Gray are some of my new favorites. They are perfect in between gray and beige colors. Two clients recently used Anew Gray as their main paint color and it transformed their space and looks amazing.Mega Greige and Warm Stone can be used as accent walls or trim. There are two of my favorites: accessible and balanced beige.I recommend them all the time.Tony Taupe is a great color to use in a space that has good natural lighting that can be used on all walls, such as a home office or a spacious guest room.Virtual Taupe is great for accent walls.
Worldly Gray is one of my newer paint discoveries.I fell in love with it after viewing it in a client's home.It is a perfect gray paint color choice.I would like to see more of Perfect Greige. If you have tried it, please leave a comment.I would like to see some pictures.
There are Colonnade Gray and Modern Gray.Modern Gray and Colonnade Gray are both warm grays that would work in any space that is hungry for a good overall color.
Sometimes grays have a green, blue or purple color.I love the blue-ish color of the paint that I have in my home, and it's called Lattice. The color doesn't feel cold or sterile, but it is a cooler gray.Front Porch is a slightly darker version of Lattice that looks great as an accent wall or on all walls in a space that has the appropriate lighting.
These soft, gray-blue colors, like Silver Strand, Passive and Gray Screen are gorgeous and give a feel of a spa-like soothing atmosphere with almost an ethereal look.Tinsmith and Gray Clouds are from the "Concepts in Color" paint deck and would be great options.
Similar to the grays with hints of blue, these green-y greys give off the same serene feel. The others in this category have a gray feel to them.Sea Salt, Comfort Gray and Oyster Bay are some of my favorites of all time, but I put them with the greens because they can really go either way.Sea Salt looks great in a master bathroom, but I have talked about it before. To make an insta-spa appeal.
I don't know if it's crazy to have a gray with a purple feel to it, but these are beautiful and elegant. There was a model home that we painted using Imagine, Flexible Gray and Chinchilla. We used a beautiful accent color called Naval in the Gray-Purple and Navy color scheme. In a new development in the suburbs of Houston, the home was an upscale model.I remember walking in to install the furniture and accessories and seeing the effect the paint had on the space, along with the creamy white countertops and dark wood flooring. The same look can be accomplished with Grayish, Essential Gray, Proper Gray and Ponder.Crisp Linen is a creamy yellow and can be used to complement a color scheme.
If you are considering painting one or all of your walls gray, I hope this has helped. If you're looking for more paint tips, check out my previous post on Favorite neutral paint colors. If you have other gray paint suggestions that have worked well for you, please let me know.
Suggestions on wall color for laundry? My cabinets and flooring are not shiny.I have been torn between the colors of the family. The room is small and I don't want it to be too dark.
