Car engines and locking mechanisms are some of the uses of e-clips.They are similar to an "E" shape and have an opening.Retaining rings hold parts onto a shaft when they are installed. If you want to remove an E-clip, you must use a tool.Push the E-clip upwards using moderate pressure if you need to.The E-clips can be easily removed with another household tool.
Step 1: Align your tool with the edge of the E-clip.
A smooth, curved edge is what most E-clip removers have.Use the curve of the E-clip to line up the curved edge of your tool. You can use the different types of E-clips in a similar way.
Step 2: Apply moderate pressure.
Simply press up on the tool to remove it from its position once it is aligned with the E-clip.The E-clip may go flying if you use too much pressure.
Step 3: Store the E-clip in a dry place.
You can put the E-clip in a jar, bin, or container. They can be used again and again for other projects. You can put them in a tool box or in your shop.
Step 4: You can grasp it if you move the middle of the E-clip towards the side.
You want the curved side of the E-clip facing you to be easy to remove. To twist it around, use your fingers or a pair of pliers. The E-clip should slide easily.
Step 5: Use needle-nose pliers to grab the center of the E-clip.
The tip of your pliers can be used to pinch the middle of the E-clip.If you want to remove the clip, hold the pliers securely. The best way to remove the E-clips is with needle-nose pliers. You can use other types of pliers as well.
Step 6: With moderate pressure, pull the E-clip towards you.
Pull back on your pliers if you want to remove the E-clip from its position. The tip of your pliers should be closer to the middle if you are having trouble gripping the E-clip.
Step 7: The screwdriver should be aligned with 1 of the small grooves.
The screwdriver's tip should be placed inside the grooves on the clip. There are 2 small grooves in the middle of the E-clip.Both grooves can be used to help remove the E-clip.If you want to get the best results, use a screwdriver that is proportional to the size of the E-clip.
Step 8: To catch it when it moves, place your finger next to the E-clip.
The E-clip is located along the top edge. When you remove the E-clip, you can prevent it from flying far away.
Step 9: Push up on a screwdriver.
Push the screwdriver upwards when you hold it with your dominant hand. The E-clip should come out.If it does, apply more pressure.
