The New York has a guide to Sun Bleached Wood.
Bleaching wood is an inexpensive and easy way to improve the appearance of wood. Here is how to bleach wood.
I got a pair of these nightstands off of Facebook Market for an unbeatable price, but I wasn't crazy about how heavy-duty they looked.
You can make your own wood bleach with products you already have around the house.
Do you own a piece of furniture or old picture frames that are in need of a new look?

Dawn dish soap and water can be used to clean dishes. When I use dawn, I just fill an old bowl with soapy water, dip a T-shirt in the water and wipe it down outside.
I wouldn't go higher than 120.The grain of the wood should be open enough to absorb the bleach.
I highly recommend a sanding star if you are sanding table legs or anything with curved edges.
After it is sanded and smooth, wipe the piece down with a rag.
I used a tack cloth to get every last speck of dust, though a dustless environment is not as important as a painting situation.
The hardest part is over!Once you have cleaned up your dust, you can mix your bleach solution and paint it.
You can mix bleach and water in any container you have.I used a plastic cup from a dollar store pack.
Be careful not to let the bleach mixture pool or you will get splotches.
I recommend applying to upright furniture. The table was laying on its side when I applied the bleach.
It's easy! After your homemade wood bleach has dried, just apply your bleach solution and let it dry in the sun again.
You may be satisfied with 1-2 coats, but you may need more than that.It depends on the species of wood and the end goal you have in mind.
After your last coat of bleach has dried, it is time to oxidize the wood.
I was afraid to use oils or poly, so I chose my favorite wax, which I applied with an old sock.
It is doable with products you already have laying around.
This process would be a great way to make a small space look bigger with picture frames, wooden trays, etc.
The tops of the nightstands were painted gray and blue. The warm wood tones were balanced out by the cool blue.
I allowed my poly to dry for 24 hours. It takes 28 days for paint to cure before it is ready for heavier use.
